Where have all the Horror Movies Gone?

I may be getting old but I cannot remember a single "Horror" movie in the past 10-20 years that has actually been frightening.
I long for the movies that would make me sit on my feet on the couch so that nothing could grab me and pull me under.
Nowadays I can watch any movie you throw at me and still walk calmly in complete darkness.
Okay I admit that I am an adult, and do not believe in the boogey man, or things of that nature, but surely someone can write a horror movie that lives up to the word "Horror."
What is the last movie that actually scared you, gave you the chills, nightmares, or made you have to turn a light on in a room before walking into it?
For me, I think it was maybe "The Ring" but even then it was only because of the camera "Ghost Movement" they used. The rest of it was rubbish.
Thoughts?

I know what you mean. I haven't seen a really good scary movie in a long time. It is a shame. The last scary movie I seen was maybe when I was about 7 and that has been some time ago. I really like the scary shows. But I don't think another one can be made to really scare me.

The truth is that everyone has substituted "Gory" with "Horror" which is just stupid. I can't believe no one has brought this up before.
