Latest rumors in the transfer window are suggesting that Drogba's move for the chinese club could be hijacked by surprise interest from Barcelona. With the David Villa injury scene this could be a real possibility and if this happens, I think along with finesse Barcelona would add meat and power into their attack. What do you think of this latest rumor? Cheers! Ram

The rumours about Drogba future with Barcelona has been on since he indicated his interest or leaving Chelsea. I do not believe Drogba will join Barcelona because from the news I learn that he has pen down a contract with the Chinese club that signed his erstwhile Chelsea team-mate,Anelka. The Coach is Baptista. Drogba said so in his website, so I learn. The rumour is not true. Anyway joining Barcelona, I do not see him staying there more than a season

Some transfer rumors have surprising ability to become the truth. But in this case, I think as Drogba has just penned the contract, this move to Barca might be highly unlikely. Cheers! Ram

Yes, at first I was surprised when I heard the news that Drogba is leaving Chelsea. After some times it was been officially announced. But, now just another rumor. Let us wait and see what happens !

The conclusion about the issue of Drogba's future is sealed. He is moving to the Chinese club and not to Barcelona

Drogba is not suitable for the tiki-taka style tha - Drogba is not suitable for the tiki-taka style that Barcelona plays
Drogba is a top class player. He has still in him at least 2 years of top class football despite of his age of 34. The talk of his transfer to Barcelona has now been confirmed as just mere rumors. But just for discussion's sake, is Drogba suitable for Barcelona? The 'tiki-taka' that Barcelona plays is not the type of football that Drogba excels in. I don't see Barcelona could change their way of play for Drogba nor Drogba could immerse himself in such a playing style. So the transfer is rightly as just rumors.

But personally I felt that Drogba could have been a great impact player off the bench if Tiki Taka is not going well. With his physicality, he would have brought a different aspect to the Barca game. Cheers! Ram

Of course, now that Barca has a new coach, not sure whether he will stick with Tiki-Taka or have his own style. But, this whole saga turned out to be just a rumor. Drogba will play for the Chinese team and not with Barcelona. Cheers! Ram

Yes, Drogba certainly can change the Barcelona style of play if tiki-taka is not functioning fruitfully. The problem is the coach. Would he admit his gracious tiki-taka a failure to send in Drogba and play a totally different game plan? Highly unlikely. As can be seen in the Euro 2012 how Spain plays, if their play did not produce result, they simply sent in another fresh tiki-taka player to try playing tiki-taka to a higher level. They did not send in another striker to shoot more. Instead they withdrew the sole one and played no striker! :)

I don't think there is any truth in the rumours. Barca have one particular Lionel Messi who has been scoring the balk of the goals, with or without Villa. They don't exactly need a striker. Even if they do, they will choose a younger player, not Drogba who is earning his last contract as a top-level player.

While it looks like this is just a rumor, Barca has had a history of taking strikers at the sunset of their careers or at the last phase of their careers. Remember Henry and Gudjonsen from EPL. Cheers! Ram

Though it is a very interesting idea for me, I think it is just a rumor. Drogba has just moved to Shangai and I don't think he will come back like this. And, more than that, I don't believe that Barcelona would put it money in Drogba. Even Drogba is a very nice player and I believe he can play in good form for a long time, Barcelona could invest the money in any others good and younger players. It would be nice, but unfortunately just a rumor as I see it. Happy mylotting.

I think if this move would have happened, Drogba might have been used as an impact player off the bench. Cheers! Ram

In the end this turned out to be just another rumor. Drogba is going to play for his Chinese club and not Barcelona. Cheers! Ram

Yeah, he could be used as titular player too. The problem for me is that the money that Barcelona would spend on this, I believe it would have a better use to contract a younger player, who could play longer than Drogba. Happy mylotting.

Hello ram_cv, it seems a good news for the Barcelona fans. Their forward player David Villa is an injury and if Drogba join them their forward becomes more strong. But I don't know whether it is just a rumor or not .

i guess the agent of didier drogba has already denied the rumours and said that interest of barcelona in drogba just after joining shanghai is laughable and denied rumours drogba has joined barcelona, but if this transfer happens i guess it would be the shortest time a player would have stayed in a new club before transferring to other club

Yes, I guess that puts the lid on the rumor, but it was interesting while it lasted. Cheers! Ram

I think it is just a rumor. The president of Barcelona denied this "news" a few hours after it has been announced, and it is now relayed by the English media : http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/jun/26/barcelona-president-sandro-rosell-didier-drogba One week only after his transfer to Shanghai it would be highly improbable. Barcelona would have indeed be a better end for the career of Drogba than Shanghai ; we heard of negotiations in May, but I believe they could not find an agreement. It is a great pity !

I actually think that Drogba could have been a big hit at Barcelona. Also given the way the transfer market goes, it is difficult to ignore any rumor. :) Cheers! Ram

It's an interesting rumor, but it puzzles me a little because Drogba has just been transferred to Shanghai,so can he be transferred again right away to Barca?I suppose he will go there on loan, that would be logical for me.Anyway,if it happens it will a great plus for Barcelona because Drogba is still capable of playing at the highest level for a few more years and he will bring indeed more power to Barca's attack and increase their chances of recapturing the Spanish title from Real Madrid. He might even play against Chelsea in the Champions League,it would be a little strange to see him play against the team for which he scored so many goals and won many trophies, but it would be also great to see him in action again, because I don't think we'll see the Chinese League on TV very soon.

For Drogba, Champions League pull would be a major aspect. For Barcelona this will bring physicality into the game. But not sure how true this rumor is. Looking at the previous reply it looks like it is just a rumor. Cheers! Ram

If this happens,Barca will become an unstoppable force. But are you sure about this, its a dream come true for a Barca fan.But ultimately, the interest might drop as it would become obvious that Barca is going to win all those matches and tournaments, decimating there opponents.I don't want this power polarisation to happen.

No, I am not sure. It is just a rumor floating around. And looking at the other posts this has already been denied by both parties involved. Cheers! Ram
