I love food and I love cooking. I used to have a blog where I share my original recipes. There were also some recipes which are not my original but I also made some modifications of it. Have you ever come up with your own original recipes.
Have you also thought of cooking your own recipes and selling them? I believe that we, mothers, should be more adventurous with cooking. This is to challenge our creativity and make our family more interested with what we put on our table. It is part of being a housewife, mother and a cook.

I have lots of invented recipes since my husband a little bit choosy in terms of food. Usually I cook low fat, low sodium, low sugar and high fiber diet for him everyday. He only eat what I cook and i dont want to buy any take out food. Sometimes I thought of selling of my own recipes especially to my patients but instead of selling it I teached them how to do it,to help them well and have a healthy diet for their own good.

Wow! It seems to me that you are a very
health concious person with the way you
cook and taking into consideration the
'low fat, low sodium', etc, thingy. That
is also admirable how you teach your
patients to cook and eat healthy. Thanks
for your response.

I love to cook also. Most of my dishes were based on the recipe I read and searched. However, there are some ingredients that are not available so i turned into some alternatives which gives the same results. You are right, as the one who cooks in our kitchen, we must be adventuruos with the recipe. If we can make some modifications, try it. I guess, cooking can also make our creativeness out of ourself. By the way I am a father of 2-yo boy.

I also did this. For example, there are left over pasta (without sauce), I used to turn them into chicken noodle soup. Left-over rice turned into chaopan. Just keep on experimenting will lead you to some delicious dishes.

I make modifications all the time. It is a wonderful way to try something new. I also cook for diabetics so I have to make substitions with sugar, flour and things like that. The trouble for me is trying to find someone else to try it out. Because since I love to eat then everything taste good.

It's funny how you said the last line of
your response. I am the same. I love
food and so I know how to appreciate all
sorts of taste. Even when I cook something
that I think was really good, sometimes, my
husband or mother-in-law wouldn't like them,
hmp! Also, my hubby is diabetic too, so I
think I really have to be good in combining
ingredients that are healthy and safe for
his condition. Thanks for responding.

I forgot how long ago I cooked following a recipe. Many years ago, when I was young, I started to change rwecipes depending on what was available at my fridge and pantry. Then I discovered than many times Ithe products ended much better and were much healthier than the ones in cook books. I use a lot less oil and butter, I serve small portions but love to serve dishes that look beautiful. Whaen I eat out something I have never eaten before, I check, talk to the chef if possible (a big smile helps a lot) and finally make my own concoction.

I haven't tried inventing recipes but I usually
cook unusual recipes I find in the internet and
sometimes on cooking shows. And everytime I cook
something new, my mom alwys think that I just invented it
but I didn't invent any recipes, I just cook unusual recipes.

I love to make up new dishes, but sometimes they are not the best. I did find a fun way to use left over meats with BBQ sauce and plain rice. They funny thing is I made it on accident I was reaching for the soy sauce and talking to children at the same time and put in BBQ on accident. At first I was like oh my what did I just do, but it turned out really good. I also have been taking basic biscuit and bagel recipes and have been trying to rework them. They taste great, but they are kind of ugly at times. My hubby told me I should open a place called ugly food that taste great, because most of the baked goods I make are kind of ugly, but taste really good.

I understand what you were saying. Sometimes
they are not the best but I think that's how
we learn to make and cook it better next time.
That BBQ and plain rice experiment sounds
interesting. It is somehow similar to the
Mongolian Barbeque though they also vary the
ingredients from meat and veggies to seafood.
Try the seafood next time!
