Aside from cockroaches here in our house, my mom and I are struggling because of these house rats. I want to get rid of them. I saw a small rat lastnight and I thought it will going to jump of me. I was so afraid that I almost faint. Actually there were no rats before but now they are here already. My mom bought a poison for the rats but it seems like it doesn't work for us.
I really badly need your help guys. I know you've got some bright ideas there. Share it to me. Have a good day! Thanks in advance.

I share your problem and know how difficult it is to solve it.Getting rid of rats is a problem we are trying to solve. Our house has been made hollow by these rats and we have no alternative other than putting a trap for them and kill every rat caught. One of my friends has suggested me to buy a white rat.He says white rat frightens other rats and they leave the house.I don't know if he is right. What if this white rat multiplies our problems? Clueless.

We will never know until we will not try it. Have you tried it? I will also not buy for a white rat instead I will just buy poison or anything just to get rid of rats. I am very afraid to roam inside the house because of it.
Thanks for this wonderful response. All the best!

That's the only alternative.Rats have outnumbered us human beings.I had once read somewhere that their number increases so rapidly. If you kill all the rats in the world and spare only a pair of he and she rats, they would again grow in the same number within three years.Killing them is the only option.

Go to Lowe's or online and buy a trap called havahart, no it is not misspelled. It humanely traps the rats so you can relocate them to the woods where they belong.

You're very welcome. I would think other home stores would have it as well if you didn't want to buy it online. Though it's all over the internet like Amazon or directly from the company.
I know Lowe's has it and home depot maybe Fred Meyer. You get the picture. Or maybe you could contact the company and ask them where you could buy it. Like you said there may be knock offs of this product as well. I used it for stray cat's but they have a smaller size for rodent, squirrels etc.

If rats are coming from outside the house, just place glue on a board, place in in front of the door. If they were to come in, they would be stuck there and be left to die slowly. haha If they are already inside the house, i guess u can either do the same thing, or simply shift away, do some major cleaning. Worse come to worse, get the experts to clear them for u I'm sure cats would run away from the rats instead.. lol

Thanks my friend. Poisoning the rats didn't actually worked hundred percent. I was so depressed because I thought there is no way I can solve my problem. But when I have known about glue trap, I was very thankful because it worked! After that I didn't see anymore rats running around our house.

I don't know about Philippines, but here in India, we have a Rat killer from Mortein brand, "Mortein RatKill". It tastes like Rat food and it kills the rats in 12 to 16 hours. The good part is, those rats have to come out for oxygen before they die. So, they die in open area and not in any hides. (You can imagine the bad smell if they die in their hiding place.)
Most other Rat poisons don't work, because if the rats consume water after eating the poisoned food, the poison dilutes and don't work. And they never touch the poisoned food again. (Mortein ratkill smells like food and the rates are deceived.)
But, even here in India, there is a better brand called "Roban" which works better than Mortein.

You must be lucky there in India for you have an effective product. How I wish we have that kind of product here in our country. I know there is but I still don't know where to find it. I really love how the product Mortein RatKill works. It sounds very effective for me while reading.
Thanks for this. All the best!

You can biuy many different kind of traps at the store. There is also this product that rats will eat and it will kill them. Problem with that is that the product takes a little bit of time to take effect, and they rat may be hiding somewhere where you cant find it by the time they die. If you cant find the ded rat, they will rott and stink up the house. Its a better choice to use traps, but be careful to hide them in a place where no one will touch them and get hurt!

Thanks for the wonderful advice. It helped a lot. I tried all of them. It really needs a lot of patience in trying to kill them. Another problem comes up after killing the rats. It is because there are rats that were killed which is have a bad odor. Really really bad. However, it is a good sign.

ACtually, that was our problem too, a long time ago.
We tried a rat trap, but after trapping one or two, they aren't effective anymore. Then we also tried the glue and after quite sometime , not effective anymore.
The last one was effective - poison. We bought Racumin. That stopped the rats.
Now, there are some again, as we can hear them running in the ceiling. But as long as they don't go down to the house it's okay.

We also tried Racumin my friend when we had a big problem with rats. My mom included it in the grocery list. It was effective though. Rats were gone during that time. However, now they are here again. What we are dealing now here in the house are rats that are so small. I don't want to go near them or chasing after them.
I guess I will tell my mom to buy that product again. Thanks my friend for sharing your experiences.
All the best!

Use some deterrent like hitz or clean all the shelves before going to bed ,use some rat trap or killer machine to scare them away so they wont come back at any point of time

Thank you for you suggestions that you gave me. With regards to your first advice, I really make sure that our shelves are clean and free from food left overs or anything which could entice rats to enter. I am very conscious now when it comes to cleanliness.
All the best!

general cleanliness at home would be my answer for that. if there's a rodent in a place, that simply means that they like the area because it has all what they need (food, etc.). Having them poisoned is also one good way to get rid of them (baygon, i guess). And I think mousetraps don't work now, they're just becoming too intelligent nowadays.

You are right my friend. They are becoming wiser these days and there are a number of them already. It is very insane! When it comes to cleanliness, I am number one of that. I don't really like our house to be dirty so I make sure I clean it thoroughly. Now, I really clean every corner of the house. I told my mom to keep the house always clean.

Hello cearn25, actually you can't get rid of those rats unless you would try to chase them and find out where they are living. Did you try to look if there are foods that wasn't kept? maybe that's the reason why they have loved to stay inside your house. If poisons are not that effective, try to purchase mouse trap. Just be sure to clean your house all the time and keep all those foods.

I really just don't want to chase after those rats. I feel like vomiting everytime I see them. It is really hard for us to bare this kind of experience in the house. Anyway, thank you very much for the suggestion. I will try to mouse trap in the groceries. Well, we all keep our food in the safe area and we make sure our house is clean especially in the kitchen.

There is no point in relocating rats,it will comeback to your house. You must drown them.Rats are breeding like rats, its is a pest. There is nothing inhumane about killing rats, in fact you doing a great thing for this world.Rat can hold their breath for a long time,so you must immerse the rattrap(with rat in it.lol)in water, for atleast half an hour.
Happy Rat hunting!!.
