improve power

I want to improve mya smash power. So which part of muscle i need to train and which workouts or exercises that will work the muscle? And are ther any tips for it... Thanx

I do badminton just as a hobby, but my friend who are serious in badminton usually train his power by tying his arm using a used internal tyre from bicycle, and the other end of the tyre is tied on a pole on his back. Then he do the smashing movement as strong as he can.

Won't it harm your arm? May be he just pull his arm like the way he smash...

I guess not. Maybe at start he just pull his arm like the way he smash, then he raise the power a little bit from time to time, so by the time i saw him, he already getting used to the training and have no problem doing it with full power.
