Survival Books?

Back in Grade school, I had a particular liking to the author, Gary Paulsen, who produced "Hatchet" and "Brian's winter". Are there any authors that have a similar type of writing style or have the Man Vs. Nature type of book, but containing a target for older audiences?
I read the Hunger Games about two years ago and was absolutely amazed by the imagery, and was a bit appalled by the movie. (I suppose I exaggerated my opinions about it as well though.)
Stephen King's Misery about the author's survival against a psychotic maniac as well as his (Spoilers) increasing need for morphine (/Spoilers)as he stays stranded in her house.

Try 'Lord of the flies' by william golding, rumored to be Stephen king's most liked novel/inspiration?

Recently stumbled upon 'Life of pi', but I haven't read it yet. The movie trailer looks promising. Just give it a glance if you like

Already read that actually, a long time ago too.. That wasn't really my favorite because survival as a group didn't "tickle" my fancy. Do you know of any single-person based survivals?

I don't know of any unless it would be something like the "end of life as we know it" books and movies that seem to be popular now. I enjoyed "The Long Emergency" by James Howard Kunstler but I think that's the only fiction book like that that he's written.
I really liked Gary Poulsen, too, and my son did as well.

Ahhh.. "Life as we knew it by" Susan B. Pfeffer? I haven't read her books in a while. I don't think that the movie went along with the book, but I may be mistaken. I loved her books and wish more books like those two were out there.

I read a short book a few years ago called "The Winter Road" by Terry Hokenson that really reminded me of "The Hatchet". It was about a girl who survived a plane crash in the frozen wilderness, and after a few days of failing to attract rescue attention she decides to walk back to civilization. It was very man vs. nature and wilderness survival. Lately I've been reading non-fiction books about wilderness survival and they actually have me thinking back to The Hatchet and The Winter Road. I never read Brian's Winter.

Brian's winter as most critics would say is basically a sequel to Hatchet, but never fully intended for its part. Do you have any non-fiction books to recommend? I'd love to read those as well.

I haven't read any books recently but I would suggest battle royale if you like the hunger games book.

If I'm not mistaken, isn't that the book about children fighting against each other for survival in Japan? I haven't exactly gotten around that, but it sounds like a good book. I also heard it's particularly gruesome. Is it severe or..?
