Negative feelings are harmful for our mental and physical health. But are they always harmful? Fear is a negative feeling, but the fear of contracting cancer has forced millions to quit smoking.
When does a negative feeling become naturally positive? Or,when does it become advisable to have a negative feeling?
Would you please enlighten me? Is it that negative and positive are the two sides of the same coin?

Hi,
Negative and positive feelings have different effects on our mental and physical health. When we have positive feelings we don't have any doubts or fear in our mind. We are ready to face any difficult situation. But when we are having negative feeling we are afraid of doing anything, even an easy thing cannot be done effectively by us. But as you rightly sometimes fear about something would be helpful for our future. Fear of cancer imposed many people to quit smoking.

You are right. But often it is the negative feeling that strangely have a positive effect on us.For example, the fear,a negative feeling, of losing money and being a pauper may inspire us to stop splurging money and save it.The fear of suffering insult may make us polite.

You have a point there. I think if we know what is our limitations then probably negative feelings will be helpful to us. Like worrying, a negative feeling. Sometimes, we worry that will be late to work because of traffic so we will get up early and go to work. But too much worrying like worrying about what will happen in the future will never help us. Too much of something is bad.

Yes, both negative and positive thinking are the both sides of a coin. Fear is not a negative feeling rash courage is dangerous. Those who are believers of god always have the "fear to god" and it cant be claimed as a negative thought.
Have a nice time.

Negative feelings sometimes do harm, but sometimes they're encouraging. One example would be a lieutenant to his or her soldiers. You could say it's tough love, but a lieutenant probably yells obscenities as well as orders. The soldiers may not like it, but it might support others to work harder.
I also think this idea applies to a lot of oriental countries. The parents may say negative things toward the child for doing something wrong, but the child knows that the parents do not mean that and simply want him/her to succeed.

Absolutely right. When a commander does not find his soldiers doing what they are expected to,he yells obscenities to them, but actually he wants to encourage them and boost their morale.Talking in filthy language is negative, but here it produces a positive effect.Sometimes negative becomes positive. Thanks for sharing.

I'm basically positive, but negative feelings protect us, that is when we feel that we can not do something ... Whenever I listen to myself well-being .. positives and negatives associated. Sometimes when you're too good not see bad.

I am positive by nature either, but often I have felt that negative feelings like fear prohibit us from doing things that may harm us.On such occasions negative feelings turn positive by nature.
Mostly I want to remain positive, but often negative feelings sneak in,especially when something undesired takes place. As you said, positives and negatives associated. That's absolutely right.I agree with you.
