As some of you have known in one of my discussions, my father in law is bedridden for almost 3 months now, because of his stage 4 prostate cancer.
Just today, as I went to his doctor for the result of his PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) , the doctor can’t believe that it is already down to zero. Normal range is 0 to 4 and his, was over 140, when he was diagnosed with cancer, 3 months ago.
It means that his cancer is under control. His injectable of once a month, worth PhP19,000.00 will be taken for the last time this July. He will not undergo radiation anymore and the good thing is that he will be for rehabilitation, so he could eventually walk again even with the aid of a walker only.
We are so happy, that we know it's an advance gift of God for him this July 2 , his 73rd birthday!

Hi SimplyD
Well of course this is a good news and I have no intentions to make this turn into a bad one, but my personal experience has something which I need to share -
I have been suffering from Ulcerative Colitis for the past 12 years now. Every year, there are routine blood tests and other examinations that get done. Once in 2008, the blood reports were quite normal and we were quite happy as they indicated quite an improvement. However the doctor wasnt satisfied and asked me to go for another re-test. And the reports were quite opposite.
What I want to say is - how sure is your doctor about the results? I know, I am acting as a spoiler here but then, I dont know, I am kind of uncertain about the results.
I do pray and hope that the results are the right ones and your FIL doesnt need to go through all the pains all over again ever.

That is quite right dear Denver. As I said, I responded this way only because I faced this issue. If not, I would have happily agreed and tried my best to become a part of dear SimplyDs happiness. I am still sorry, if my response was a spoiler.

No sids, it's not a spoiler. It could very well happen.
However, in my FIL's case, there was really improvement. He was initially paralyzed waist down , that even his feet cannot be moved. Now he can move his knees and wiggle his toes!
The doctor said that it means he is responding positively to his medications. So when the result of the PSA came out, it seemed to affirm our observations.
My father was like that too sids. After taking cancer medications and alternative medicines his PSA went down to 3, which was formerly also 100 plus. He is now on the 9th year since that time, when he was told that he has more or less 5 years to live only.
Denver, indeed God is our greatest healer!

It was really a tidings of great joy for your whole family. It was a marvel that he was diagnosed as prostate cancer which is normally considered as incurable disease and keep it in check three months later even leave off radiation.I wonder what medicine he took apart from radition and chemotherapy.

He was given an anti-cancer medicine , which he takes everyday, and will be taken for 4 years even if his cancer is controlled. Then, he is being injected once a month through an IV. All of them costs so much.
Those medications plus our prayers, though not done in group but individually , really helped him be healed, even at least for sometime.

It shows that the anti-cancer medicine works like a charm and your father in law has great powers of resistance.

I am so pleased that your father in law is getting better. Prostate cancer is one of those cancers that generally is treatable and in most cases it is a slow acting cancer. I don't think that his recovery is a gift from any imaginary deity I think it is a combination of good medical treatment and the natural defenses of the body. However if you wish to believe it was the work of a deity remember is was the same deity who gave him the cancer in the first place

If he believes that prayer works in some way then it is probably a good idea to tell him that you are doing that. Actully doing it won't make any difference at all but his belief may well give him a psychological boost which may help his body to heal itself. The human body ia a amazing and can do extraordinary things under the right mental conditions. So do carry on

Yes, it can also be attributed to the good medical treatment, my friend.
But since it's a stage 4 cancer, we have to pray for him to at least regain his mobility. So, we believed it was answered.

Oh yes, we always keep him happy, by always being around him at all times. We had his hospital bed and TV at the dining area where all always gathers.
That way, he is never without a companion.

Unfortunately, during his birthday he was rushed to the hospital because he cannot urinate. His stomach was hard as rock.
But it was immediately treated at the hospital. Hence, his birthday celebration was postponed for the weekend.
Truly God is so good!

Hi, SIMPLYD:
There are many things in our lives we do not find her explanation, but that God has granted us His mercy and compassion. Limited knowledge of man, but God is infinite knowledge. It is better to turn our minds and our souls to the Creator of the universe and the orchestrated, he is capable of everything.

Yes indeed jazel, my FIL is a fighter.
Since the day he was bedridden, i didn't hear him complain nor see him depressed of his situation. In fact, he would always remind my MIL of the medicines that he is to take. He would always prod the caregiver to turn him to his other side, every 30 minutes so he will not get a bed sore.
Maybe it's because he see all of us so supportive and caring for him.

Yes, that's true Denver.
Perhaps God wants my FIL to realize that it's still God that can ultimately heal us. You see, FIL isn't that so into praying. Maybe God reminded him by this case.
God is good indeed!

Unbelivable, your father in law is so lucky. The first time I have seen your post on this issue. I thought stage 4 must be very serious and hopeless. I had a relative who is diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer, I saw her last time when she was taking a walk with her husband. I did not known she was diagnosed already, and she greeted me. She did not last three months since then.
Compare with my relative, your father in law is very lucky, congratulations! Wish your father in law will be fully recovered and regain health completely!

Well, my friend when he was diagnosed with it, i researched.
It was said that unlike other cancers, prostate cancer isn't that deadly, wherein you really won't last long anymore. It says stage 4 can be two years or more than that.
But yes, liver cancer once you have it, it really can make you die over a short period of time, if you are on stage 4.
I still believe that prayers do really works. We are all praying for him , every day. God heard our prayers.
