do you expect a miracle?

the psychoartist is amused at herself...i have had a haircut today at the salon and am amazed, once again...it seems that when i have a hairtreatment, i expect to come home and find myself looking different, sleek and glamorous...instead, i have come home and still look like the same person! does anyone else have these unrealistic expectations when you undergo hairdressing or beauty treatments!

WYSIWYG - This applies not just to computers but also when it comes to how we live. If we make no changes how can we expect to see a change?

Hello the psychoartist I imagine that things aren't as bad as you are imagining, and that Mr. Psychoartst is quite pleased with your day at the salon. Fortunately, I have a great complexion and, I'm told, wonderful hair that causes women to want to run their fingers through when they see it. At least that's what Mrs. Turner tells me. I rarely go to the salon but when I do, I am often amazed at the magic the stylist seems to be able to work with my unruly mane. Yes, it may be sexy as all get out, but it can be a bit unruly. The stylist somehow manages to get it under control. Of course, it doesn't stay in that state for long because as soon as Mrs. Turner sees it, she can't help herself but must run her fingers through my hair. Peace

Oh no, the psychoartist, it is not Mrs. Turner who is blessed, but I.

wow pageturner...mrs. turner sounds like she is indeed a lucky and blessed woman...the psychoartist is quite attracted to a a man with a beautiful unruly mane, preferably dark, and if he is wearing a kilt, it is magical!

My sister used to do that, but she'd get really upset. She'd bring in a picture of someone with a particular haircut, and ask the stylist to cut her hair like that style. No matter who did it, it never came out how she wanted. And she'd pout all the way home because she didn't think it looked like the picture. I think she just expected to look like the person in the picture - magic!

ha! my mom did that too ambiepam! i think everytime she went to the hairdresser! and she was worse than your sister, she had tantrums and stayed locked in her room until she had come to terms with it...she has very very dark hair and i remember one day for some reason she decided to have blonde highlights put in....big disaster as it just looked like gray streaks and as she was about thirty then she was devastated....which necessitated another visit..

Many a woman Wants thick and Curly hair. Suggestion, check out Pantene products. They may have a shampoo for Curly hair. It seems like they have product for Every type of hair.

I think we all go into certain situations expecting a better outcome. I think we have to change on the inside to see a definite change on the inside. And getting the same haircut for years doesn't make for a big curtain unvailing and any big change. Making a drastic change can and that takes guts.

thanks celticeagle....i agree that we must take risks for change...i wasn't really worried about changing on the inside, just in a very superficial way on the outside, but i can see as you are pointing out that both are related....

I have the exact opposite expectation. I go through the beauty treatment, some lasting more than an hour and expect to seen no improvement, insteat to my shame I see that with just a little more effort on my part I could be a pretty good looking person. I'm just lazy

hi savypat! i am sure that you are a goodlooking person under all circumstances! but i am like you in that i do not want to spend oodles of home time doing hairstyles...there is so much more to do, such as cooking, painting, reading, playing with mr. psychoartist and the princess, and mylotting, of course!

that is so funny. I just hope I look decent. I am always afraid the hairstyle won't suit me. It always looks better on somebody else.

hi winterose and flora! i agree with both of you.. the psychoartist has endured quite a few salon disasters as i have curly hair and sometimes the stylists don't know what to do, and there are only so many ways it can be cut or worn...now that i am no longer young, i do not fight it as i once did, but just go with the flow, so to speak...

Yeah actually we can always see more share in others plate and less in ours... Truly speaking there are so many hairstyles which I think would look at me but frankly they look much much better than me on others. :(

I don't get any beauty treatments. I can't afford them. I wish I could get a pedicure and a manicure at least once a month! Both my finger and toe nails could use it! I never get my hair done. Twice I tried a perm but it fell out in like 3 weeks! I only get it cut or trimmed every fews months nowadays.

thanks for your response blue65packer! you are right about the exorbitant costs of beauty treatments...which is probably why the psychoartist for some reason expected a huge change in my appearance!

Well, I think to have a dramatic change... you've got to do something pretty dramatic! I never expect to look too different after a haircut. I did expect to look a bit different when I dyed my hair back from light-brown/depressed once-blonde to a golden blonde. But all I really expected was to be blonder, and I was! I looked really good in burgundy too, it all went to complimenting my skin-tone. But to be really sleek and glamorous, I think I'd need a nose job and a chin augmentation.

thanks allyoftherain, i appreciate your response...to look sleek and glamorous, the psychoartist would have to have an all-over augmentation...

I know. Taking some of the ugly off the top just reveals more ugly underneath But it's a lighter, more-manageable ugly; no?

Not officially---I'm not "on contract as public-relations officer" with anybody 'in the natural' (you could say I'm a PR-man of God, but then Aren't we all? ) More like an Uncle, I think. Telling you how the world is without caring too much whether you like it or not, so you can handle 'the pressures life puts on you' without complaining to the wrong people.

thank you mythociate...your encouragement is much appreciated...the psychoartist is guessing that you are a public relations officer in the non-virtual world, am i right?

When I come back from the hairdresser I always FEEL great! I love getting my hair done. I find it very relaxing. I have even been known to fall asleep in the hairdressers chair as she is massaging my scalp! I feel that when I come home I DO look different, although I haven't undergone any major changes, usually just a trim and "cleaning up" of my hair. I think it's the way I FEEL so good that makes me THINK I look good as well.

that's great that you have positive experiences at the hairdresser suebee! my grandmother did too, in fact, i think that was her favorite hobby...she went every week on fridays and i sometimes had to accompany her as a child...i listened to quite a few ladies stories then!..afterward she would take me to the bakery for treats, so that was nice! and i think you are right...how you feel is so important, but i sure you also look lovely after your salon time!

hi, Now a days at this age my hairs have almost gone and few existing have white color. Every time i go to saloon for haircut i wish to dye my hairs but i am afraid because i am having allergy of these colors. But i am expecting some miracle in the form of full at least black or brown hairs or at least ample amount of hairs like my young time.
