I have read in an article that tea does help people lose weight. I'm glad to hear this since I've started started drinking green tea for a while now. What pushed me to drink tea is the fact that it contains antioxidants that are helpful in preventing cancer. To lose weight drinking tea is plus for me since I've always wanted to lose some weight, specifically in my midsection. But can tea actually help you lose weight?

Many others said that but I guess it's true. In my case I already take different beverages for slimming but tea is a bit effective for it can swept away the toxins from your body. There are many factors of green tea to your body, it can make your skin glow and smooth. And also good for your digestion process. Can prevent us from harmful diseases. It's can be our food supplement to replace the foods we intake that lacks some nutrients.

Wow! You sure know a lot about tea, jorshelle. But I'm not into those slimming teas, i just want the green one.
@tess_quinain yes you're right that tea is a better beverage than coffee. But, if you want a fixer upper, coffee definitely does the job.

Green Tea only helps a little in losing weight. If you have tried the new beverage nowadays, the corn beverage, you will have a lot of benefits. Taking the corn beverage as an alternative drink for coffee or tea will give you many benefits. Corn has many vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidants that will aid a healthy body. It is good for the skin, nervous system, digestion, maintains low blood sugar and cholesterol level. If you'll research some facts on corn you will be amaze on the benefits that you can get.
I have started drinking this beverage 3 months ago together with 30 min. of dancing exercise, 3 times a week and it helps me loose the 15 lbs excess weight. I am now in my prime years and that is how fast I loose them. By the way, stay away from too much carbohydrates and eat plenty of fruits and veggies.

There were people who said that to me as well...a long time age. But so far as to the reason, I just lately knew. My doctor wants me and my brother to drink tea often, the reason is because teas have the ability to soften bowels. So with that kind of property, people will be able to lose toxins more effectively. In other words, the more you can easily go to your comfort room and lose your bowels from your body the better thus lowering your weight as well.

I don't think he mentioned something like that. But maybe teas do that too. He was only concerned about our stress levels and capacity to "go to the bathroom" at that time, you see.
From what I know about teas, they are often used as medicine/treatment to certain ailments aside for a drinking beverage during afternoons to relax oneself and to get rid of stress. And from what I know of stress, they add to one's body fat too because we tend to eat more.

I forgot to mention this in my post that tea is also a stress reliever. Thanks for bringing this up, SinfulRose. Well, actually it depends on the person. Some people do eat a lot when stressed, but I know some people who loses their appetite when they are depressed or stressed out. I think this stress relieving property of tea is one of the reasons that tea is also an antioxidant since stress brings about "abnormalities" in our cells which later results to cancer cells.

So, tea also functions as a laxative as well. Thanks for sharing this, SinfulRose! Since it's coming from your doctor I could safely conclude that this is a fact. No wonder, I feel so light every time I drink tea. Did you doctor also mention that it aids in the breakdown of fat? I read this from another article but there seems to be any solid proof to back this one.

I'm not really 100% sure if ordinary tea can help lose weight. But there are special in the market that is specifically for those who'd like to lose weight. These are herbal teas that can help you in digestion and metabolism. But still the best way to lose weight is to watch your diet and exercise more.

Yes, you can't just drink tea and expect to lose weight. That's just like lying on the ground waiting for the apple to fall. But if you drink tea, eat a healthy diet and exercise, you'll definitely a significant difference in body in a couple of weeks.

I believe tea helps one to lose weight.
When I was in China, I observed that when they eat, they consume large amount of their food.
A plateful and bowlful of noodles, soup, vegetables and fruits.
But they stay trimmed.
That is because they drink tea a lot.
I believe, tea has a component that interferes with absorption.

This is exactly my thoughts about the lifestyle of Chinese (and maybe Japanese, as well), irene66. It's mind boggling to see them eat so much and yet they still stay slim. I always thought that tea played an important role in their. I just don't have enough proof to back my ideas on this one.

Maybe you should try exercising along with a healthy diet to maximize the effects of tea. I don't think drinking tea alone would not bring your desired results. I drink it as is, no sugar, milk, lemon or honey. Once, I tried adding sugar and milk. But I still preferred the original taste over it. You won't be needing those extra calories from sugar anyway.

Thing that discourages me that drinking tea causes malabsorbtion of iron. Yet
(1) Tea refreshens our nervous system.
(2) Tea is a fat burner.
(3) Tea sweps away all toxins from our body.
(4) Tea neutralizes free radicals generated in our body.
(5) Tea decays the layer of cholesterol heaped in the inner wall of veins and arteries and maintains the perfect cholesterole level.
(6) Tea(raw tea) is a number one digestive and speeds up metabolism.
(7) Tea is an anti-cancer.
After all tea is a part of our belief and culture. We have no courage to say anything agaist it. Others tea devotees will drive out me frow my homstead.lol

These things that you enumerated are quite true, Kashidanga1971! Oh come on! Say what you have to say, my friend. At least they'll learn something from you. I, for one, just learned from you that tea disrupts the normal absorption of iron. Which is a bad thing since iron is an important component of our blood (specifically, the hemoglobin in our blood). I think your post here would just serve as a warning not to drink way too much tea.

I consulted an doctor once a very long time ago and ask for prescription on how to gain weight. I'm not really that thin but just on the border on the underweight spectrum, and he asked me if I drink tea, I said yes and one of his advise is not to drink it anymore. He explained that tea has a component that prevents the blood from absorbing iron or something to that effect which helps your body to lose weight.

So, tea does plays a role in losing weight. Thanks for posting this one, ybong007.
I think tea has something to do with digestion. From what I heard, Chinese people usually drink tea after a heavy meal (especially, those with oily foods). I believe this to be true since you can seldom see a fat Chinese anywhere.

There are certain teas that can help you lose weight. These teas are called slimming teas. But the regular teas don't make you lose weight. In fact, some teas can make you even fatter. As I have heard, Teas also have the same effect as coffee. My mom drinks tea and whenever she does, she couldn't get to sleep!
