Does anyone out there have one of these? I was just trying to find someone that has one and uses it regularly to tell me how well it works.
Our dryer seems to be having trouble, and in pretty old(along with being a cheap model). I was looking at replacing it, but have a feeling that the washer is not far behind in dying on me.

We have had our British-made (not anymore) Hotpoint Aquarius washer/dryer for about 8 years and my husband had the same model before that for about 4 years.
We have been lucky with this machine as it's very efficient and (touch wood) hasn't had a lot going wrong with it.
If you do buy one get one with a large-ish drum if you can as ours is one of the smaller ones, as larger drummed machines came later.
I would also recommend that - once you have washed your clothes, take some out if you are to dry from scratch. People often make the mistake of washing and drying a massive load and wonder why it doesn't dry. It's impossible to dry a full load and we often dry the clothes on an indoor airer and only place clothes in the dryer for the last half hour or so. A full cycle of wash and dry tends to take well over 2 hours so please bear this in mind. As far as I know the new machines are exactly the same.
It would cost too much money (in electricity) to wash and dry your clothes from scratch but if you have somewhere to air your clothes (or even peg them on a washing-line as I do if the weather is good) then a combo is brilliant.
Saves space too!

I like the space saver aspect of it. By the time you wash and then throw stuff in the dryer it takes 2 hours anyway, so the time thing is not a big deal.
I do think that I would have a hard time remembering to go and take out my sweaters or other things that I normally hang dry, or lay flat.
Looking online the combo washer dryer is about as expensive as a new washer with a separate dryer. I could get a stackable unit to save on space.
Thanks for your input.

I don't have one and, frankly, I am not too familiar with a 'washer dryer combo'. Is it one machine that does both washing and drying? I've seen a type of washer that claim to have the clothes 90% dry once it finishes the cycle. I suppose it suggests that we do not need a dryer if we use such washing machine. As the clothes would be almost dry, we can just air them out using a clothes line outside.
