What do you usually do to fight sleepiness at work? I just finish my lunch and it's around 4:00 in the afternoon. There's not much work to do and it's like in any minute from now my eyes are going to shut down. LOL! I had a cup of coffee already but still I'm feeling drowsy. I really don't know why maybe this is because of the food or what. Hmmm...so what do you do when your sleepy? In my end here, I'm trying to type and think of anything just to keep myself going.

If I am sleepy at work, I take a walk go other floors, take a break for some minutes, go to the comfort room, talk to my office mate for a while and get back to my area. There are lots of ways to do to remedy my sleepy mood.. if I have nothing to do, I invent something to do, learn something just to get that day over. But you know, it's really hard to work when you are bored. I have this one experienced when I took a half day because I was so bored.

Maybe, there are really times when you're brain will stop working and will refuse to work. And then psychologically you will feel sick and sleepy just because you don't feel like working.

@ shello.. This is also true! Your brain tells you to be sleepy... oh no, got tardy brain sometimes so I tried to renew my means of waking up myself aside from diverting my attention. I sometimes act like a manager (walking around, to and fro) just not to feel sleepy.

I work as private duty nurse during late in the afternoon my patient is sleeping and I just there beside her and watching because she might fall from the bed. But of course watching someone sleeping in a full aircon room it makes me very sleepy. Coffee is not effective to me, walking around I cant do it she might get awake. Then I discovered watching my favorate TV series in my ipod really helps me to fight sleepiness. But know responding here in mylot also a big help for me because it stimilate my mind to keep it work and fight sleepiness.

That's good to here Bhebelen, that you have your iPod with you as a good companion. Watching someone sleeping really sucks. By the way, what TV series are you watching?

I am watching Person of Interest, Vampires Diaries and Supernatural. These TV series makes me feel awake. Sometimes I watch Glee too, just to update myself about teenage life and latest songs.

you can stand and walk a while to avoid what you are feeling, or talk to someone in the office about the job you are doing, or do some exercises like walking, but of course i you walk you can do job for example keeping some papers in the file, or singing , humming, this will keep you awake.

Thanks, smart. There's no work available at the moment and the office is now very quiet. Today is the last day of our work here so maybe everyone is already in a holiday mode and that's why there's less turn out of work on Thursday afternoon. Anyway, thanks for your advice, it is highly appreciated.

Hi, I do understand the terible feeling you are describing. i also feel sleepy after lunch. So i usually take a nap in the noon. If the nap is broken by other affairs, i will try to eat some sour food, fruits or sweeties. They really help. maybe you can try it~ Good luck

Good for you sharry that you could really find time to take a nap at noon. Here, it's too difficult to nap especially when you are at work. But anyway, I will try to do your suggestions and hope that it will also work for me. Thanks.

I also experience that especially when I didn't have enough sleep the night before. So what I do is, when I get a chance to make a nap for few minutes, I do it. Or either I'll just walk around or go to the comfort room. Being sleepy at work is really uncomfortable feeling that's why what we have to do is avoid it, by having enough sleep at night. Good day!

Sometimes, I usually go to the comfort room and just sit on the bowl and close my eyes for sometime or just want to sit there while browsing my mobile. Good suggestion.

Hi friend, so you are drowsy after the lunch. It is quite common to most of the office goers, just hear some good songs to refresh you or make a good conversation with your colleagues via phone or by direct to come out from drowsiness. You can simply wash your face, it will solve your problem

Hmmm... kinda difficult to manage? Well, it it's okay to nap for few minutes at work then that would be better. If not, then you may stand and go to powder room have some few jumps and then drink cold water... you're now awake...

if im like that i will sleep for a few minutes because drinking any powrful drink will not wake me up and there is no use from fighting it, so i sleep for a minute or so and that is the only solution to wake up again and be able to work, even cold water will not work

I see. I heard some people say that even a five minutes nap can restore your energy. Anyway, I just realized that I'm feeling drowsy because I'm about to be sick. But not so sure ;( Cheers!

I just stand up and walk around for a couple of minutes. I do not go near those energy drinks because it just makes me feel even worse a couple of hours down the road! If you can, try to take a quick walk around the building that you work in. Sometimes fresh air works as a lot of buildings out there use recycled air!!
