I have been to a swimming school when I was young but it was such a short course and there were too many students and only one instructor and the instructor was not able to teach students on a one on one basis. Usually they would just tell or show you how to do it once and leave it up to you to learn it. I want to learn since every time we would go for swimming with family or relatives or friends that I just stay on the water and just always attempt to swim.

I would like to swim too, but i just get scared that i might sink. I even took swimming lessons as a child, my sister and i, but only she learned how to swim. My mom said it was because i was always afraid..

Oh,I also want to learn swimming this summer. Swimming can consume many energy in short time, so it is a good way to keep fit and slam, if you do it one or two times a week. Attending some trainning course is nodoubtly the best way to learn swimming. It is a good idea that go to swim with friends or relatives.

And what might the category of 'watching movies' have to do with this? I had a bad experience when I was younger that left me afraid of the water. So every year I have to re-learn to swim. You should check around to places that have swimming lessons and go.

I have to agree with the others. What does this have to do with watching movies unless you are scared about water due to the shower scene in Psycho?

Well my philosophy was always, if you don't plan on swimming professionally, you needn't really take lessons do you now? Just spend some time in the water; soon you'll learn what you need to survive, like doggy paddle and frog swim etc.

I used to be terrified of water up until I was about 13 because I never learned how to swim. I don't like crowds that much so swimming classes were not an option for me. I basically taught myself to swim and something that helped me with my fear of drowning was to just relax and your body will float. Trust the water. Another suggestion would be to start out with those arm floaters to help keep you afloat but it helps your body adjust to the water.
