So I have this friend who always gets stuck in ruts and then expects me to help her get out of the. For instance, today the store that she is paying monthly bills for buying furniture there, called me saying that my "sister"... (what the heck?)hasn't been paying her bills on the furniture and they can't get a hold of her. I didn't know what to say to that so I just said no I didn't know where she was. I didn't lie, because I really don't know where she is but it makes me mad that they are calling me bugging me about her problems! What should I do?

Just tell the caller that you will pass the message along if you meet your friend. But how did the shop knew your number? If you had consented for your name and hand phone number to be on the furniture installment plan as a witness or as a guarantor, you have to be expected to be called if your sister defaults in her monthly payments. In some cases you may even have to take up and pay off the balance of the loan or plan.

I guess part of the application requires you to put down names and numbers of people you know for "references." But really they are meant to be used if they stop making payments and can call you if they can not call you. She didn't ask my permission if she could put my name down, and they called me for weeks looking for her and I had no idea where she was. It was so annoying.

Your case is not peculiar, you have to weigh the relationship of your friend to you. You can sit your friend down and talk with her for her to know that her actions are not favourable to you. If she is not willing to listen to your advise so that you will not be burdened then I would advise you to keep her at bay for a while.

I wonder if your friend gave out your phone number as her phone number. It is sad that youe friend will not take the responsibility to pay her debt. Next time they call I would just say I am sorry you have the wrong number. Has anyone heard from your friend maybe you can have them pass along the message that you need to talk to her.
