Is this a shocker. Was Italy of such a class that would have played Germany and defeat Germany. Is this Ballotelli game. What was the magic of Italy in the tournament so far? They are now a top contender for the trophy. Can Spain be able to hold Italy down. Both played at the group stage and Italy scored first before Spain equalized.

I think the difference between the two teams was finishing. The finishing of Ballotelli was simply top class. He showed why managers are willing to put up with some of his nonsense. In both the cases Neuer stood no chance. For the first goal, the other mercurial talent Cassano was the architect and Ballotelli provided the perfect finish.
On the other hand, Germany created a lot of chances, but either they were wayward with their shooting or Gigi Buffon was too good for the German forwards.
Cheers!

Since I am the fan of Bayern and the German national team they have won only one major trophy, the Champions League in 2001. Before that German teams were more efficient. I don't know if it is a coincidence or not, but I consider myself a person who has no luck, no matter what I do. And the fact that Germany is always there, but never wins and the same can be said about Bayern also, who lost two finals which they dominated(99, 2012), and a final when they were at least at the same level with Inter, makes me believe that I will never get the opportunity to watch them lift a major trophy, which are the only ones which matter. Maybe it is a mental block, but I consider this huge amount of hard luck. The lost final against Chelsea and now this Euro made me very sad and I have a very low moral since then.

Yes, this is how I see things also. Buffon said after the game, when he was full of anger, that if Germany would have had luck, then the score could have been 9-2 for them, so this says all. It was another terrible disappointment for me, it seems that I will not have the chance to see Germany win a major trophy, and this is also true for Bayern also. I just don't get it why is this happening, no matter how my favorites play, the outcome is the same: they don't win anything. :((

If you take a look at the history, every time when Italian football was involved in a scandal before a great tournament, they have won the title. Therefore it "is written in the stars" for Italy to win it, and that is the only reason why they are going to lift the trophy. Because taken piece by piece, the Italian squad is made up by lots of mediocre players, having Buffon, Pirlo as huge exceptions, de Rossi, Cassano being only good, and Ballotelli as a diva, which can have magical nights. But a player like Barzagli was very weak in the Bundesliga and many other players which form the Italian squad are average players.
I have seen the comment below that Germany was made bigger than it is by the media. Totally false, the performances in the recent years are a demonstration of their strength. They just don't have the luck which is needed to win a trophy. And many forget that Italy is a lucky team, and this was demonstrated once again, as in the first half two penalties were not seen by the ref and the ball didn't want to enter the goal of Buffon, even when he made a mistake. Italy was not better than Germany, it was luckier, but luck is a vital part of the modern game. And let's not forget that the referee has protected Italy, the most eloquent moment was when Toni Kroos was brutally fouled by Motta and the referee decided that Italy should take the free kick. But this doesn't take away from the merits Prandelli or the players have.
For me, as a huge fan of the German national team and of Bayern Munchen, this season was a catastrophe, but made me love even more my favorite teams.
As for the final, I am sure that Spain can't fight the destiny and Italy will lift the trophy.

You've got it wrong. You need to have football skills also, but without luck you cannot win trophies. And this was demonstrated by yesterday's final also. Italy had two injured players, and Spain scored at it's first real goal scoring opportunity. It is clear that Spain was better, but if they would have had an unlucky day, they wouldn't have won the trophy.

I think Germany usually is fed a lot of hype by the media, in fact they should have been out in the group stage, Denmark wasn't given a penalty shot which would have given the pass to Denmark and Portugal, in fact Spain is here also with some referee help(Croatia), I would usually root for Spain but because of this I want Italy to win.

I think we are of the same feeling now. Italy win has made me to think of supporting them over Spain. They are really shown a character of great footballing nation. I think they stand a better chance to win than Spain irrespective that Spain has more supporters and media positive remark than Italy.

I guessed that Italy will win this game, it look like Germany lost a lot of their power at the games before. It look like they enter the game on the bad side and they didn't have much power.
Now i believe that Spain will win at the next game, against Italy, and take the cup.. Like they win the World Cup, I think Spain is the best team this days

I think if the team Italy continue their performance in the last day, it will be very difficult for Spain. Also everyone will be waiting for just another superb performance from Balotelli. All the very best for both the teams .

Hello Chikezie, it was a superb match. I completely agree that it was a Ballotelli game. I think German team were not doing their best in that game. All the best for the team Italy to in the title .
