Reality shows are interesting, and they can be very funny at times. I have seen things that I just could not believe as I watched them. I think most of them are scripted though and not really reality. What do you think on the subject?

I think if I could go back in time and stop Big Brother ever being made then I would choose that over going back and killing Hitler. Big Brother was good for a while and then they turned it into some freak show. Followed up with things like Jersey Shore/Geordie Shore/The Only Way Is Essex/Made In Chelsea....just what is going on with TV these days. It only encourages everybody to be obsessed with their looks and act like idiots.
Occasionally Big Brother had it's moments, but I could have done with 7 less seasons.

hi surveychick! i used to like some reality shows but now am disgusted to the max with them as that seems to be all you can find on television these days...i like travel programmes and cooking programmes, but i really like shows with a plot...in addition, the reality shows are all so slimy grimy and tacky they make me feel disgusted with our country if this is reality...mr. psychoartist and i have been watching old shows with plots and they seem to have so much more substance which i worry must show the intellecutal downfall of americans if now they watch the trash that is shown...

I hate reality shows. They are cheap which is why there are so many of them. They pay the people to be on them but not as much as they would pay real actors. I think most of them are scripted or they would be too boring. The worst thing about those shows is that they make 'stars' out of no talent people. A lot of those people then really think they are stars or are something special.

I love reality shows.. And i do hear sometimes that they are just scripted, but they do not seem to be, especially those where you win a prize.. Because how can anyone decide who will win and just act or something. I love Amazing Race, Top Model and Survivor the most.

Hello surveychick4
I have watched partial episodes of so called reality shows on a couple of occassions. I quickly learned that it is much easier for me to avoid these horrid attempts at entertainment than it is for me to have the carpets cleaned of the projectile vomitting that ensues after I am in the room with one of these shows for more than a few minutes.
I truly worry about the generations who have been exposed to these vile shows and know no better than to think these are 'quality programming.'
Peace

hi surveychick4! i think reality shows used to be much better...i used to like to watch wife swap...but now it seems there are so many reality shows that it is old...i hate hate hate those bachelor/bachelorette shows, but i don't really know why...i liked that flav o flav show with brigitte nielsen, but not his later show flavor of love...i know this probably sounds silly but i am relieved that reality is not like reality shows!

I used to like watching reality shows...but just like what I said "used to", so that would mean I don't watch them anymore. I guess you're right, most reality shows appear to be scripted and controlled. The reaction of the participants are either so predictable or so weird. And nothing's new.

I think I have to agree on the scripted part. I find that some reality shows now are just full of dramas, probably because of the entertainment value it is giving attracting more viewers. I used to love The Amazing Race and reality shows that are of those genre, but I have not watched many episodes since moving out of our house. I do get to watch some online but not that much anymore. i think I have lost interest or just shifted my attention to other things. I do read about recent reality shows and that is how I concluded that many of them are just for shows.

Reality shows have taken over and some of them are unbelievable in how they celebrate bad behavior. I am amazed by how many there actually are and that some of them are legally allowed to even be aired on television. Some are just a little out there, but some...

There is a big comment running around that many of the interesting scenes at the reality shows are scripted ones. But whatever it is, I enjoy watching them and so I like them for this reason.

I like to watch reality tv...some of the shows are really good
but some are so trashy its rediculous..It is really hard to believe
that people would get on national tv and expose some of the
things that people do...I have heard people say some of them are
scripted but that dosen't matter to me because its just entertainment....
