hello fellas, I planned to start up a rice and corn business in the Philippines. by next week I will start working on the business licensing and registration. Now I am thinking a good business name of my planned business. I have a few name like itrading, istore, itrading & services, istore $services. my products are rice and corn retail and wholesale. what can you say about the business name I came upon?

DTI will not accept the itrading and istore. You should be specific naming your business. Those name you have in mind are the line of business you plan to put up. If I may suggest that you name your store by the place name or your surname for a recall of the customer. Or something that is current and techyish, if you want it to be more in.

why dti won't accept that kind of name? i came up with the combination of my name and my uncle's name. i would like to call my business as BMAC's Store. what do you think of that name? Do you think DTI will accept it?

Yes, the name is a good one and DTI will accept it if there are no same name listed nationwide... You have to prepare another 2 set of names just an option in-case of same name appears in their list. My brother-in-law works with DTI Davao City and that is how he taught us what to do in naming our cargo forwarder business, which is by the way the name is MFM Mindanao Freight Mover. Do you have another name in mind in-case they will reject the first one? These 3 names are DTI's prerequisite when filing a business name...

what is comida buena? sounds spanish to me. good food is good but it sounds more like your selling cooked food.

nice. you are right that I have the plan to expand my business but not to add items or products for my business. to expand my business is to sell large volume of rice and to have other branch stores.

Comida Buena is good food in Spanish. I was thinking maybe later you will expand your merchandise range from just rice and corn. You may sell also cooking oil, sauce etc. It will attract more customers to come and sell more items per transaction.

I don't really know much about choosing business names. I always think that business names should be catchy, but still sound professional enough so that people will remember it, and it will stick to their minds. But when my friend put up her Travel agency, she chose the name of her favorite Christian Band that time. I helped her make a logo for it. itrading and istore especially sounds like it would be a store for cellphones. I guess because of the "i" at the beginning of the name. What's the story behind the name?

I have no background in business much less coming up with business names but I would agree with apoljuice, the name you coined up sounds more of like a cellphone/tech store with the "i" in it. I think there are better names that you can come up with that can recalled easily. good luck.

you the name itself sounds like a technology store. what i like with itrading because it is short and it is more personal to me because of the letter I means I, me, and myself but since with the letter i connotes more on technology like iphone, ipad and may i's. so i think it won't be a good choice for my rce dealership business.
