If you had the chance to make your own museum where people could learn about a topic that you are interested in, which topic would you choose and what kind of exibitions would you make? Why would you choose that topic?
If I was going to make to an art museum I would focus on surrealism and I would try find to some of the less wellknown artists. I like Dali, Magritte and the other famous artists, but I would like to introduce people to other artists as well. I also like ambiguous art where there are two pictures hidden in the same painting. I would like to introduce people to that kind of art.
Another option would be a museum about different countries and cultures around the world. I would divide the museum in different rooms and let each room represent one of the continents. I would try to find some unusual facts and unusual objects from every continent.
I am a big fan of horror movies and horror stories, and some kind of horror museum would also appeal to me, but I am not sure how I would create that museum.

To own a museum...i think we have to spend much money and time for collection...
In here some men do it and they have to spend around 15-20 years for collecting, and for sure they have to spend much money for buying a land, build a house and buy things that they want to show in their museum...
Currently i have no idea about it because i have no money for it at all. if i can do, i prefer to collect old furnitures that people used to use before in their living but right now it is not longer more because of a modern life...

Yes, it is a long process. You have to buy or rent a place for the museum and you have to collect the different objects. If you have to buy everything it would be really expensive. I know that some museums get donations (objects) but you still need to buy many things. I have donated some old paperdolls to a historical museum on the neighbour island. If I ever open my own museum I hope that I would get lots of donations I like your idea about collecting old furniture, because I am interested in history and the lifestyles of the past.

You are right, it is a long process and we need money for it also. Ya, if you can get lots of donations, it will be very nice, but we still have to buy many things else..because people like to get in a museum..with many things to see..
In here, i like to get in the Vietnam museum of ethology, there are many interesting things to see and know more about 54 ethnics living in Vietnam...but have a big museum like that...we need much much money...

That sounds like an interesting museum to visit. I like adventure and mystery and it is always nice to learn something new. I have several ideas for my own museum for instance travelling or art as I mentioned when I started the discussion, but there are many other interesting options. A kind of history museum could also be interesting, because I am interested in history.

I would choose a travel museum. It would have old trains, old trams, old buses and the first plane in it. It would have photos and texts of the transport of the past. It would be wheelchair accessible and give special prices for students and school children. Outside would be a miniature railway for people to enjoy riding on. There would be a large walkways showing vacation destinations. Every day there would be a raffle and one person per day could win a vacation. It would be a week or a fortnight to a European, African or Asian destination.

I would definately visit your museum We have a railway museum in the city where I was born and it was an interesting place to visit. There are some really old trains in the museum and it was interesting to see the development that has happened. A museum where other kinds of transportation are represented as well would be even better. I also love the idea of a raffle where you can win a trip, and I think that would attract many people.
The idea of a travel museum would also appeal to me. I would probably divide my museum in different rooms and the let each room represent a continent. In each room I would find some things from the different countries and I would try to find some unique things and things that could represent that country in a good way. I would like my visitors to walk through every continent on their way through the museum and get a glimpse of every part of the world.

I like that horror film inspired museum. It is unique and I a am a fan of horror films myself.
I can only think of 3 ideas, based on what I like, I'd like to make a museum for Music, everything music, from instruments, to songs, to bands and artists.
Another would be anything James Dean, since I am a fan, but I think that'll be pretty small. lol. or Walt Disney, but I think they already made that in every Disneyland and Disneyworld.
Fantasy films will also be a choice.

Yes, a horror museum could be interesting. I know that there is a small horror museum in Copenhagen, but I didn't get the chance to visit it yet. I share your interest in music. I play the keyboard, I write songs and I listen to many different kinds of music. I would definately find a music museum interesting Walt Disney is already represented in Disneyland and Disneyworld, that is true. I have been to Disneyland in France, and I also hope to visit ones in the US one day.

I would probably have a fantasy museum with info on different mythical and creatures such as vampires, elves, fairies, trolls, dragons & basilisks. Each creature would have it's own section with descriptions on how various cultures & countries view them, as well as various examples of them as seen in fiction works. There would be wax figurines of how the creature is traditionally viewed and I suppose some examples from movies & books would also be shown.
I don't know why, but I've always liked to read about mythical beings even though I don't believe they are real.

I would be interested in visiting that kind of museum. I have read books about the different kinds of mythical creatures and I think it is a fascinating subject. A museum would be a great way to learn more about the different creatures. Some time ago I visited a website about mythical creatures, there are so many different ones and many of them I have never heard about before.

Owning a museum is great idea, if i have the means to accomplish it. i am thinking of something that feels close to us, like a museum for food. you know, a lot of traditional food is extinct nowadays, with the floods of fancy diners or fast food chains. It will be even greater if i can show what food people eat during pre-historic era.

A museum for food could be an interesting choice. If I made that kind of museum I would try to cook some of the food from the past and give the visitors the chance to taste the food. I know that the open air village on the neighbour island cook food and they use recipes from the past. It is interesting to taste that food, because you can't buy that food in the shops or in the restaurants any longer and you don't usually have the time to taste it. I think that it would be interesting to taste food from the past I am sure that there are lot of differences between that food and the food that we can buy today.

Movies of all sorts have always fascinated and inspired me, they have a lot of connection to the real world we live in, would like to choose such wonderful, timeless movies and catogorize them according to their genres and shed more light on them to reach various people, the main goal being to change their lives through films

That would be interesting. I love movies and at the moment I am reading a book about famous 1001 movies. I wonder if a movie museum like the one that you mentioned actually exist anywhere in the world. I haven't heard about it, but it is possible that someone has made that kind of museum. I like your idea of dividing the movies in genres. Maybe that could also inspire people to watch movies from the genres that they don't usually watch. Most of us have some favourite genres, but I think it is good idea to learn new things and get introduced to new kinds of movies.

If I had the chance to own my own museum the topic would be Women in the Victorian Age. I don't think people understand fully how far women have come in the last few centuries. The Victorian age was very hard women and we have so much now I wonder if we really appreciate it all and those who faught to get us here.

That would be an interesting topic. Many things that we take for granted today didn't exist in the past. 100 years ago women in my country weren't allowed to vote and many other things have also changed since that time. I know that that there is a historical museum about women in one of cities in my country. I haven't been there, but they have exhibtions of the living conditions of women from the iron age to now. It could be interesting to visit that museum and learn more about the past and the changes that have happened.

I have an idea in my head. I love motorcycles. If I were rich I would have a motorcycle museum. But something that I would really like to do is have a miniature motorcycle museum. I mean motorcycles in scale. All scales, all designs, all toy companies...everything I could find. Even wooden bikes and handmade stuff. This is my dream.

That museum would be an interesting place to visit for motorcycle enthuasists I think that my father would love to visit that kind of museum. Today he has sold his motorcycle and he is not able drive anymore because of his eye problems, but he is still interested in motorcycles. If you ever come to Denmark you should visit the the castle called Egeskov, there is motorcycle museum in the castle, and my father and I have visited it in the past. The rest of the castle is also interesting and and the rooms are beautiful.

If I had the chance of building my own museum??? It would be...The Museum of Books!
There would be soooo many rooms as those books would be classified based on their years (or centuries). And in each room there would be so many shelves to put those books based on the writers and authors' names alphabetically. I would try to search for the rare manuscripts to complete the collections. I prefer histories, legends, and stories. But I like poems too. Omg...can you imagine how big the museum would be???

That would definately be a huge a museum and it would be a very interesting place to explore for a book lover like me. I think that I would spend many hours in your museum My husband usually says that there are two libraries in our town - the public library and our house! It is true that I have many books, and that I an avid reader. I like many different kinds of books and I read both fiction and non-fiction.

I would have a museum about theatre... if I wanted to be more specific, I would have costumes from musical theatre pieces/plays ll around the world from every decade and rendition... and maybe other bits and pieces of information and exhibited material.

A theatre museum is a nice idea. I haven't been to the theatre for a very long time and it is quite expensive, but I have enjoyed most of the plays that I have seen in the past. Where did you get your interest in theatre from? Are you interested in acting or do you prefer to watch the plays? I like to watch the plays and when I watch a play I often feel like becoming an actress myself. I don't want to become a professional actress, but I would like to take a drama class or something like that.

Yes, that is definately important. It is not enough to get a good idea, you also have to attract visitors and make money. Which kind of museum would you start?
