i could be wrong and there may be a few that developed straight from youtube. anyways what i am refering to is i see a lot of cover albums where they sing diffrent songs they enjoy and they are really really GOOD some are even better than the original person that sang the song so why do we never see them later on down the road as a famous music artist? i enjoy watching the cover videos. lately that is what i have been doing. i mean i do both but lately ive just done this. i have heard so many that were so good i know i would buy thier CD's if they were to release one. i am just woundering what you guys think. why do you think they never go any farther? do you think any are good enough to become stars?

I know a lot of people who have succeeded from YouTube. Some get a TV Show, Some become an Actor and become Famous with a Wikipedia Page.

I think there are people that successed after singing and placing videos on youtube. If you can sing I would suggest you to do the same. It's the chance to show what you can do with your voice. Anything you do you can make a video and post it on youtube, you could even make money(contact me if you are interested).

There have been a lot of successful singers from Youtube. Maybe the artists you're listening to haven't been discovered yet. Time will come for them.

I think Taylor Swift was discovered on YouTube. A few of our local artists have become famous through YouTube. They're not singing though, they're just either doing videos of themselves doing silly things. Some of the local networks thinks they're a hoot, and would promote them. Sometimes I think most people only make the videos as a form of enjoyment. I used to upload music that I covered on YouTube as well as a sense of accomplishment for being able to do something like it. I'm not sure how easy it is to get discovered in YouTube nowadays unless you're doing something really awesome. Especially here in our country, but usually it has something to do with doing something weird or funny.

i thought that taylor swift was discovered on american idol but i could be wrong and i could be thinking of someone else.
that is true there are a lot of videos on youtube and there are all diffrent types. so i can see how easy it would be to miss someone with great talent trying to make it in the world. they should make another site just for those people sinve everythign has turned to technolgy now. that way they wouldnt miss all the talent.
i agree i think people enjoy making them and some people enjoy the funny comments they get from it. the younger people think that is makes them popular so like mentioened before it is hard to find the ones that do have talent thro all the extra videos posted.

There are millions of videos on youtube and to be discover really need something special like a lot of recommendation and sharing through the internet.
Not just the person covering other people song will find it hard to be recognize at youtube. There are even a lot of established underground band didn't have enough hit on youtube.
It is hard enough to be discover at youtube, let alone impressing people.

that is a very good point!!
there really are a whole lot of people and videos online specially in youtube that it is almost impossible to find the really good people that are on there unless you are told specificaly to look that person or band up...
i wish there was a better way to catergorize them so they are easier to find. there are a lot of people on there that i would buy their music if they were to release an album!

Hi there,
It's mostly because YouTube is simply the transport medium of the current time. I have been involved in the entertainment industry for years, before the explosion of the Internet and YouTube, aspiring artists had to send demo tapes to the major (or minor) labels to try and get an audition. And of the small percentage of the demos that do get audition invitations, an even smaller number of those people actually get a production agreement. Even getting a production agreement does not guarantee success, as evidenced by all of the "1-hit wonders" out there.
With Internet sites, anyone can upload demo videos, and try to gain a following. Talent agents are not infallible, and often times they might miss a good act because they are reading the market conditions wrong. Even Elvis's first few tries did not result in successful recordings. With sites like YouTube, an act gets to play to the masses directly, and their acceptance can be gauged accordingly.
There has always been a large pool of acts that try to make it, and a far smaller number that do. Just look at all the talent shows on TV now, and how many actually win. Then there is public opinion that really decides who makes it and who doesn't. Clay Aiken came in second on American Idol, but he is quite popular now.

that is what i thought still had to happen until a friend of mine said that now many of the record companies use the internet and youtube to listen to new records. i didnt think the youtube was right because i never hear from any of them.
on youtube there are a lot of videos from many diffrent people. some are funny some are really sad and some are just bad or good. i can see how easy it could be to skip over someone and not see how good they really can be.
there are a lot of hit wounders out there and it takes a lot to even get 1 song out there much less any more than that. clay aiken is very popular and i forgot that he was 2nd but it goes toshow you dont have to win or come out on top of a competition to suceed in the music industry. the record companies do know talent when they see it.

i am sure that is what they are waiting for and to see what others think of them before they even try to make it in the music industry i just wish they would get discovered and soon lol i would rather buy some of their albums than the ones that are already out.
i honestly did not know that justin bieber was found thro youtube. that is pretty kool to hear of someone that originated from there. that is interesting. i actually wounder how many people they have discovered from there. there are proby more people that we do not know bout.

I think two things are involved here. First, we who are watching the video actually expect less. We are satisfied with just one song and do not expect an entire evenings performance. We don't want to dance or to be otherwise entertained.
Second, to make one good song is relatively easy, but to hold an audience engrossed for an hour or two is another matter. The economics and complications of having a public address system, equipment and transportation for public performances, and the management and booking facilties, etc., are well beyond that of a simple computer and webcam.

that is very true i do not expect to see professional work on youtube so maybe that is why i sometimes see them as better than the original. plus i enjoy to see people having fun and it matching the song and sometimes the regular artists i do not see that.
this is also a good point. i have only found i think 2 people and 1 of them already became a little famous thro youtube that can keep me entertained to watch 1 after another for hours. other than that i am only interested in 1 or 2 songs and them i am bored and i will move on to other ones. i can see some of them that i find very good not being able to keep an audience and that is important unless you just want to be a 1 hit wounder.
