Do you really prefer the college course you've enrolled into?

i'm a graduating student taking up BS in Accountancy. I didn't prefer this course but i just ride with what my highschool mates want and also due to same University. But when i was in hs, i really want to enter into the world of Fine Arts. That's the thing that i really love, cause i can also incorporate my possible learning in arts with something that i also like-Photography. However, i found myself good in accounting. Can you tell it a destined path? Did i do the right thing? Will it affect my future and career life?
How about you?

I'm also now on my final year, taking up BS Mathematics . My course is actually my first choice, it's something that I really wanted to take up, aside from the fact that I have also been encouraged well enough to go for it. I also have some other choices of course but there are other much valid reasons why I have ended up taking this degree. Although I haven't been doing very good lately, I know this is still what I want, and I can still see myself having a future career in this field. However, not just because this is my course doesn't mean I am already limiting myself within this area. Despite my course, I still find myself engaging in other activities unrelated to this, especially in the performing arts, photography (just like you), creative writing, volunteer work, et al. I don't want to constrict myself within the bounds of my course; I might as well go insane if I live every second of my life doing the stuff with numbers and equations.
All we have to do is find where our passion lies as we try to live our life to the fullest. Perhaps with your case, you have turned out to be meant for the field you have chosen before. Good luck, and keep it up.

Wow BS Mathematics, my highschool teachers had recommended such for me :D
But i really don't want to enter into a specific career that don't have any broad knowledge and my mother said that the opportunities in Accountancy are far more better. But we're the same, i really love equations, derivations, numbers and the likes. This has been enhanced especially when my younger brother is asking for help in Algebra, i still find myself an expert even after years of not touching things like that. :D
Thanks, BTW..
Good luck to our future career.. Hope a bountiful one :D

yah, the two are really distinct. Anyway, in accountancy we took 4-8 math subjects because they are really essential to boost our mind regarding critical analysis. In math, you'll just have to deal with the operations. But in accounting you have to deal with transactions and integrate your analysis, formulas and the likes. I do believe that in BS Math, you're also applying math in practical problems. AM i right? hehe
Accountancy involves so many theories..

I think this has always been a common misconception among most of us. Other people think that Math is synonymous with Accountancy, which is actually the other way around (or so it goes as how I have seen it). Correct me if I'm wrong, but despite Accountancy's partial involvement with Calculus (in some schools, the Integral Calculus is offered in the curriculum of the BS Accountancy degree), it isn't really directly related with the BS Mathematics degree, in the sense that the subjects involved in their curricula aren't entirely related. I know someone who told me that BS Acctcy is more on the laws and other related things, and the maths involved here are usually the four f's or fundamental operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division.) That's why the fields for future careers regarding these two degrees aren't also related, but it doesn't necessarily mean that the one has better offers for jobs than the other. That's all. :)

I wanted to take up Accountancy before but I enrolled Electronics and Communications Engineering because it was the course my boyfriend had took up so I decided to enroll the course however when I was in my third year college, it is very hard to take a block section for there are so many students taking ECE course so I decided to change course and I then enrolled Industrial Engineering and luckily finish it.
As you can see, the course I finished is not actually the course I've wanted to take up but by chance I actually graduated and finish the course, and one thing is for sure I didn't regret changing my course for after graduation I actually got a job easily and I still doing well up to now.
Lucky you your course is what I've been wanting to become and I believe you've got the right choice on it. You may not know now what will happen after your graduation but I believe you are now looking forward that what you've decided is the best thing you could ever done. Anyway if you've got a better chance someday you could still pursue the other course you've been wanting and like to take up before.
There is a time for everything just keep on believing, there is a bright future awaits.
Have a good day!

Good for you that you're now contented and successful after taking up a course which was not your paramount choice. Don't you want to take another college experience with what you really love-Accounting? hehe
Yahh i'm in a state of mind right now wherein i can say that this course, even though not my first choice, is giving me so much great experiences.. I can also say that this path will actually direct me to the success that i'm looking for.
Thanks by the way.. I will make sure that i'll have time to pursue Fine Arts.. Hope you'll find yours, if you like to. :D

This is the right time that you should have to take a good decision. I recommend you to take a course that you are interested in.Where the interest lies, there lies there lies the heart. From my personal life i say that i saw many people who took the course out of interest and quited their studies in the middle. So dont waste your time again i say that choose the course in which you are interested in.

Hmm, this is the right time? Then what should i do, I'm now a graduating student. There's no way out and my parents will not be in favor if i'll do such haha.. I think i'll just continue this and save money afterwards so that i can enter into Fine Arts
