If the Heat get Nash I see them repeat.

I've heard this rumored as a possibility. Maybe it sounds a little far fetched but of all the scenarios I've heard that have Steve Nash leaving Phoenix this is one I think might interest the man. Only thing he's missing on his application for the hall of fame is a championship. This could be the move to bring that to him. I don't know about everyone here but I can see this becoming reality.
I'd love to see him go to the Raptors and that would be terrific for the game in this country but I'm not sure it is the best move for him at this point in his career.
Anyone have any other great theories as to where he is going to play next year. I really doubt it will be with Phoenix.

The funny thing about the NBA is that the more things change, the more things stay the same. Look at all the speculation that was going around before the draft. This guy was looking to be moved, a team wanted to trade this guy. You could have built a playoff contender with all the players that were rumored to be moving. That being said, I could see Steve Nash return to Phoenix.
Now, if that is not the case. Miami is definitely a destination, although I don't know if that is a slam dunk. I would think that would take the ball out of their best playmaker. LeBron James can get 10 assists a game when people are focusing on him as a scorer. A guy like Ray Allen, a shooter that can spread the field without needing to run the offense himself, would be a more viable option. Nash would also take away from the continuing development of Mario Chalmers, who in two seasons with the Big Three is growing more comfortable by the game with his role. This would almost force Nash into the mix; remember the Lakers in 2004? Karl Malone and Gary Payton being added had an adverse affect. I could see a similar situation.
Best situation for Nash? New York. Let's just say that Jeremy Lin is not a great point guard; he's a good one, but not great. He does not fit with that team as constituted. Nash would be a faciliatator, get good shots for Carmelo Anthony and Amar'e Stoudemire. It would be the best fit IMO.

I don't think that Steve Nash would hurt Lebron's game at all. It would definitely impact Chalmers who would likely be the odd man out. I definitely remember the Lakers in 2004. I don't think Nash's playing style and personality draw many parallels with them. On paper I think it looks great. What happens in real life is anyone's guess.
I don't think New York is the perfect fit for Nash. Their record of bringing in stars and turning them into a contender hasn't been very good. For that reason alone if I were Nash I'd stay away from it. I think you're selling Jeremy Lin short. To say he doesn't fit with this team isn't fair. He's been the best fit point guard they've come up with in quite a number of years.

With all due respect, the key point about Lin is turnovers; a team that does not play defense well like the Knicks cannot afford their point guard turning it over as much as he does. Steve Nash is a solid PG that controls the floor better. You get a better leader on the floor without sacrificing the scoring that you get from Lin. With players like Carmelo and Stoudemire, you want to have someone to facilitate more, something I see more from Nash than Lin. Lin being the best point guard for the Knicks in years is a weird statement; it doesn't necessarily qualify him as being a great PG, but only the "best" they've had. Looking at their recent history that really isn't saying much. I don't question that Lin is a good PG, but he's not top 10. I would rather have Tyreke Evans in NY than Lin, personally, because unless you get a top 10 PG there isn't much distinction between the rest of the best. There is a tier of PG that qualifies as the top (Nash, Rose, Paul, D-Williams, Rondo), after that it becomes a group that includes Tyreke Evans, Stephen Curry, Russell Westbrook, John Wall, even Ricky Rubio sits there. I don't think Lin is as good as them either. Every name on this list makes the Knicks better than Lin does. He's not horrible, but if you have a chance to get Nash with a team that has not won anything and could use a leader then it could be special.
That being said, I don't think New York is the "perfect" fit for Nash, either, but it is the best fit. He makes that team dangerous, Lin makes the team better but in the end they would be better served with a future Hall of Famer like Nash.
The problem with Nash in Miami is his presence takes away too much from chemistry; if it ain't broken, don't fix it. Chalmers isn't a top PG either, but he his a perfect fit for this team. You replace Mike Miller with Ray Allen and that is a wash at worst. At best that is another future Hall of Famer that fits perfectly within the framework of the team. The Heat don't really need a point guard because LeBron and Wade control the ball so much in their offense. A PG in Miami is someone to spread the floor out, not dominate the ball, lead a break when needed, and make plays. It's better to have the younger, quicker Chalmers there for defensive purposes, too.

Hmm... Bringing in Carmelo and Stoudemire was supposed to turn them into a contender. Those have not been the only "stars" over the past decade to come to New York. Some of those "stars" were point guards. Hate to say it but they still didn't look like a contender this year. Will Nash put them over the top? Part of me really doubts it.
I don't think Nash will hurt Miami's chemistry. I agree that they function well without a point guard but Nash will reduce some of the one on one stuff that almost got them into trouble in the playoffs this year. I don't think he'll hurt Lebron's game. Lebron won't always have to create his own shot starting from outside the three point line.
This is all theory anyway. My gut tells me he should stay away from New York. My wish bone wants him in a Raptors uniform. In my opinion there is no real down side to going to Miami. Whatever happens will happen.

The Idea that if Steve Nash will land to Miami that would be more great and it will be a repeat championship for Miami we all know that Miami Heat doesn't have a legitimate point guard though Mario Chalmers isn't point guard but a shooting guard Cole isn't a enough to be a full time Point guard, He can be a back up if possible. Dwayne Wade is also a Shooting guard, I think having a Steve Nash in the Heat is bright idea for the Management. But we just hope it will not have a problem in the Salary cap. But still it's up to Nash and the Miami Heat if they can offer Steve Nash a great deal.

Miami is an odd team in that they won a championship yet they don't have a true point guard or centre. They are a great team and I don't think bringing in Nash would hurt them. If anything I think he would have them running the court even better than they do now. For the rest of the league that would have to be a scary thought.
As far as salary goes, I'm doubting Miller will be back in spite of how well he played and his popularity. He gets quite a chunk of change. With him probably coming off the books and the fact that I don't think money is Nash's primary concern, I can see this happening.
