Is it safe to submit my paypal account number to any site about which I am not sure if it is legit or scam or to reveal it to any person whom I do not know personally and the friendship is merely online just like in mylot or facebook? Is there the rarest possibility of being scammed if I do so? How far is my paypal account secured under the strict supervision of paypal authority?

Most websites that are legit and safe don't ask for your paypal number only the email address but there are a rare few that ask for the account number, but I tend to be very skeptical of so called earning sites that ask for my paypal account ID number I would recommend that you do more research about the site before submitting your papal info especially your papal ID number because your account could be hacked easily if you submit the wrong info or too much info to the wrong site so just keep that in mind.

For your kind information, there is no account number in paypal, all you have is the email address which may well be treated as the paypal number.

Hello, you mean the paypal id? I think there is not much risk in giving the paypal ids to the persons if your password is too strong. I think in many situations, people use very less strength passwords. But, we should have a password which could not even guessed by our friends and family.

A pleasant day DoctorDidi, With reference to your query, it is not safe to reveal your paypal account number to anybody. As this number is truly confidential. The only thing you can give is your payment ID usually represents by your email ID that you use for paypal. And this email ID/payment ID is the one being provided to the payor especially if you are expecting some incoming funds that will course thru on your paypal.

If you carefully go through my discussion, you will find that I am asking this in reference to any site about which I am not sure whether it is legit or scam and also for unknown persons. As for the latter, it is always wise not to share my paypal email address but what's about any suspicious site?

What's a PayPal account number? As far as I know, (yes, I have a PayPal account) PayPal uses your email id for transactions. And as long as you aren't giving out the password, and you have a super, SUPER tough one for both your accounts (PayPal login as well as your email id), you should be good.

The email address may well be treated as the PayPal account number. It is all that we have.

I would not recommend that DoctorDidi, recently there is a task in mylot, I accepted to do and the task provider asked for paypal account, I became skeptical and opted out of it. But you should make proper search before releasing your paypal account.

You have done it in case of an individual but what's about any site? If the site is a scam, can it cheat me if I disclose my paypal email address?

There is no harm in sharing your paypal email address with others so that they are able to send money to you. Now, as far as the unique account number that you have on your paypal account, I don't think that there is any reason that you should ever have to share that with anyone. That, I protect, even when I am posting proof of payment from various sites, I will always make sure that I black out my account number.

When on a website that asks for PayPal verification if they ask for anything more than the address don't do it. Websites that ask for PayPal verification will only ask for the address. If the website asks for anything more than that they are a scam. As far as people go samething. As well when it comes to only knowing them online never give kind of payment info out. Either way it goes if they ask for more than what is normally needed it is a scam.

I have shared my paypal ID and password to a friend online whom I trust. There are some issues concerning my paypal account and she is just helping me out with it by signing in to my account. I think for as long as you change your password often, your account will not be scammed or affected. You still have access to your personal bank accounts in your paypal that only you knows it.

You can reveal your paypal account email address (because there is no paypal account number) to some sites or someone but not to just any site or person. The basic rule for secured financial transaction is to verify whoever it is that asking your account. Even if we can guarantee the paypal's secured site, you must be cautious in all your moves involving financial accounts.
