Who lies more, men? or women?

Lying seems to be a society thing as nearly everyone does it or has done it somewhere in his/her past. I have met many people in my life and the majority of them lie regularly, occasionally or lied at least a few times. I have found that both sexes can be equally good 'Liars'. Lying is being used for many reasons. To avoid confrontation, for good or bad causes, business, to avoid embarrassment,manipulate others, proliferation, criminal activity, cheating in all sort of relationships etc..etc.. It can even become a habit to lie (or an addiction)-just for fun. I had times in my life when I was surrounded by a lot of women who lied while at other times it was the men who were in the majority, sometimes both were equally balanced in numbers... In my opinion which is based on my own personal expereince-women and men are equal in numbers when it comes to lying.:)

Of liars, I think men lie more as evidenced by cheating (men cheat more although women seem to be trying to catch up.) Yet, women are good at catching these lies. Men are horrible liars and women are great at catching lies. Plus, men many times lie to women so at to "tell women what they want to hear." As for your question, I think women lie more for good causes because gemerally, they don't like to see people hurt. It's hard for them to break up. So they use 'little white lies' to cover themselves and their guilt feelings. I think that's a good thing, that women are less forward than men because women are stronger with their empathy and sympathy. And this world needs empathy and sympathy.

I guess women they lie to their kids, family, friends because they tought that telling lies are better than the truth Sometimes they do that to protect the people they loved

I do not know how to measure this.I know the extent of my lying around,but it is very difficult to know the extent of other lying because we are not going to be with them all time around and we can be able to know everything about them like a GOD.I guess,I can do one thing,I should prepare a questionnaire and spread among people to judge themselves and so that we will know surely who lies most.As for now,I have no clue.Guess we lie equally.

I don't think this is gender specific habit but some thing to do with upbringing and people they live with. If they are in a bad company they do not know the meaning of truth and yes, some times they lie for a good cause as well. However that is not a common thing but most of them do it in self interest only.

women lie for good causes sometimes but like you said men do to but also when also lie because they think they can get away with everything. Most women don't catch most guys who lie some do but not all women are good when they lie some do it for bad reasons.

Dear friend, I far I had noticed it is seen that men lie more, but women are smarter than men to hide their lies. In the case of lie for good cause, I feel it much in women. But it would be not much difficult to find a lie from a male than a female. This is just from my personal outlook.

We do lie but not as often as men. We lie but those are simply lies that we don't want the issue grow. We don't lie often because we we are accustomed to tell our partner the truth right away and ask for forgiveness to free from guilt and heavy heart hence, men find hard to admit their mistakes so they tend to lie often.
