yep. that's right. i am asthmatic. i'm really not like this when i was little. i don't even get sick that easy. but when i went to college, when i was in second year i guess, i began experiencing shortness of breath when climbing up the stairs or using the ramp to get to my classrooms. (students weren't allowed to use the elevator at that time. booo! haha. now, they are. lol) whenever i have cough and colds, i experience difficulty of breathing and i can't sleep lying on my back. i've got to have at least two pillows to make sleeping comfortable. and oh, did i mention i'm allergic to dust and some stuff? oh noes! when allergens attack, i sneeze non-stop! and i'm also allergic to some analgesics like mefenamic acid. it's dangerous for me to just take any medication because i might have an allergic reaction. my eyes swell (it's periorbital edema in medical terms by the way) sometimes. now i really am careful and i take good care of myself. i also have my inhaler with me all the time. whew. my parents told me it's good i took up nursing so that i'll know how to take care of myself. well I am a nurse now, and i wish i know how to really take care of myself. lol. well, take care guys! ^___^

I had asthma when i was a boy, but it is long gone from me after i reached my adolescence, your description of astmatic attack is similar to what i had gone through when i was a young boy, i used to be out of breathe when i climb the stair-case, in the cold raining day and night i will have non-stop cough, it is a painful and soul wrecking illness. I am quite fortunate i managed to outgrown it and got to say goodbye to asthma during my adult life. According to my doctor, if you are over 13-14 years old but still contracted the sickness, then you may not have the chance to outgrown it in your adult life, i am not sure how true is that, but i will like to think it may be only partially true, the recovery probably depend on the health and wills power of the patient. Since you are a nurse, i am sure you can take good care and precaution on your own asthmatic condition, you will be fine as time go by and soon will recover fully from asthma.

I had asthma as a child, but outgrew it. I do have an occasional asthma attack. I think I have one maybe every two to three years now.

Life long asthmatic here. It has been my life long cross so to speak. I still to this day have issues at times with it. I keep an inhaler with me at all times also. It is a life saver. There have been many times I would have been in major trouble if I did not have it. I am in the medical field too. I think I got in the field because of me having asthma. Take care and in touch. It is nice to talk to others with asthma and see what works for others.

I have asthma, too. I know what a asthma patient mean. I have been tortured by this disease for over ten years. In order to control it, I tried many kinds of therapy. Although I haven't control it completely, I never give up my confidence. I believe I can control it. Let's fight against it together.
