Nope, he doesn't...we adopted him at 10 years old, and his previous owners have said that he had no interest in playing with toys. Bummer. We bought Kitty a green mouse, brand-new but nope, he won't look at it. He's a fat housecat, and I want him to have lots of exercise, and we try to feed him fish and meat as well as his favourite cat food .... er notice the word TRY lol! Anyway, he will play with yarn, and we do devote a lot of time with him cuddling and and playing with him, oh man he purrs like a motorboat!!! :-) I made a "lolcat" out of him and that green mouse we bought...we're going to the store today to see if we can buy some catnip for him, hope he'll be more active that way. He is a healthy cat, though.

It sounds like your cat is an old and refined one. He might be too old to feel playful. He is cute though. It's too bad you've tried to get him to play but he still won't.

He's old and been neglected, so he's probably stuck in his own ways, but since he will play with yarn strings, that'll be kinda cute, I don't have a pic of him playing with it on my laptop just my BlackBerry, but hopefully I'll be able to upload it here sometime in the future. It makes you smile :-) hehe He's been a housecat so he never goes outside, but I'd still like for him to get a bit of exercise, though.

It would be good for him to have some exercise. Sometimes I wonder what to do to get cats their exercise when they are this old and set in their ways. I'm hoping your cat will change. Until then maybe just keep playing with him and the yarn.

Hello Masihi Perhaps your cat is so busy contemplating the complexities of life and how he can take over the world that he doesn't have time for the frivolities of fake mice and such as that. I wonder if you could take a cue from the hamster sect (oh, the humiliation if Sir Cat realizes this) and get your cat a treadmill and harness him to said device for daily exercise? Peace

that'll be cook if they actually had running wheels for cats, but not sure if I can put a newly-adopted 10-year-old cat who's set in his ways on a threadmill or anything like that LOL Even putting a harness on him for the first time seems kinda "cruel" for him, he's been neglected most of his life, you know? He is my owner......................

My cat will not play with toys either, but does play with yarn string and loves to lay on plastic bags you get from the stores.

Ya he will play with the yarn and we sure have lots of that stuff around our flat ha ha! Anyway we tried to go out today to the pet store to buy some catnip but everything's closed, Canada Day was yesterday so today which is a Monday everything's shut down even sobeys and other major franchise chains. Looked like the summer version of Christmas! I think we did see Kitty batting a plastic bag around a bit.

I don't know if the age have any influence on this matter, because my 5 year dog also don't like to play with toys anymore and when she was younger, she really like, we used to give her toys and she would not let them go for weeks. Maybe because you already get your cat with 10 years old, he don't like to play with toys anymore..

Ya, that could make sense,I suppose what I really want to do is figure out some ways for Kitty to have exercise and to work his joints and to lose a bit of weight, I understand that as a housecat he'll always have a bit of extra weight on him but still I don't want him to just be lazing around doing nothing, probably bored out of his skull. Our apartment building manager only allows one cat per rental unit so adopting a kitten is out of the question as long as Kitty is around.

Most cats like fishing poles w feathers on the end. Or some other toy they can chase if u play w them. 10 yrs old? Nice job adopting ur new family member. Older cats sometimes have achy bones so sometimes don't want to play for long. Cat nip is cool but I heard that it downtown irk w all cats. It depends if the mom was sensitive to cat nip. But I personally can not wait to get CA nip for my Kitty after she is a yr old. Just to see. Also I believe cats get use to eating certain food n get picky. Mine will not eat nine lives. Idky. But I would try the fishing pole. Good luck n Congrats ur Kitty is purrfectly beautiful.

Hubby is a fishing freak, so I'm sure we have an extra old pole somewhere that's a lovely idea, thanks I'm also thinking a small ball with holes in it with his favourite treats in it, since they're dry, it'll also give him a bit of exercise, then open the balls and give him the treats after a while...I've seen those at the pet store, but when we went there, it was closed, it was Canada Day yesterday, so everythign's closed today, including all the major grocery chains and other large popular stores. We'll be out tomorrow and I'll certainly ask Hubby for an old pole.

Well, I think older cats don't play much. They like to survey the scene. My cat is 6 and although he still plays, he doesn't play as much as he does when he was a kitten.

I could say that most of the cat plays with toys. They love them, they consider it as living one. It will be fun if you have a remote control in it, if it runs when cat touch, they run after them to catch. So funny, this is one of the reason why I am so much attached with cats. I could say that if you are practicing the cat, it could play with it .
