When i moved here 20 years ago it was such a nice quiet place, most everyone owned their homes & took care of them, u knew everybody & it was just a nice place to live. THEN we had a couple to move in & he had a son who was just trouble from the get-go. He stayed into something all is growing up years. Now he is over 30 & still is just a hoodlum. He will not work, fools w/drugs & into a who;e lot of things he doesn't need to be. They have pratically disowned him but now he is homeless, cops are after him & he's trying to hang out in the neighborhood again.. A few years back i had two young men painting my house that was recommended by another neighbor. I have to take pain meds & they stole my meds from me. yesterday i found out that one of them had moved in across the street. . It does not make me feel good to know the scumbag is living there. Once people in the neighborhood started passing away people started buying their houses to rent out.So many people don't care who they rent to, all they want is that rent money. I know there is nothing i can do about it & that doesn't make me feel any happier either. Have any of u had this problem in your neighborhood?

We've actually only owned our house for just about five years now and in that time there has only been two houses on the block that have been sold. You are right that neither of the house that have been sold are owner-occupied, but we really have been lucky enough that we haven't gotten scum for neighbors. The family that is right next door to us is a little bit strange, but not bad. The thing with them is that they have a daughter that is older than me but mentally disabled and has the mentality of a child. Where the problem comes in with that is that she wants to play with the kids because she thinks she is a child, but she also has a vocabulary and knows gestures that children don't need to see or hear.

Oh my goodness, sounds like u do have a problem. They should get their child enrolled somewhere that other people are like her. I don't mean to be ugly but i would not want her playing w/my children. She needs to be around people her age that has the same problems she does. Thanks for responding.

This is sounding really bad. I am sorry this is happening in your neighborhood. It sounds like something that is happening in a lot of places though unfortunately. It is a sad thing when people steal your pain meds to get a high. This is the problem with man made created medicines.

hi antiquelady lost my response copy clipboards when we moved to California we loved Santa ana ca pital city of Orange county as it was clean and pretty with a lot of shops we loved amd some good cafes. now the Mexicans have taken it over they cannot afford to sweep; the streets. alot of white people moved out leaving empty businesses that were often trashed.Mexican Illegals took over most shops were now Mexican shops and the neighborhood was just crummy. drive by shootings by young Mexican gangs. It is so bad I refuse to go downtown there as you are likely to be ripped off of any purse. we now call i Sewage Ana.back in the year President Kennedy was assassinated it was really a nice popular city. now its just trashed.

GOOD MORNING HATLEY, Thanks for responding. That is a shame that your former neighborhood has turned out like it has.I think it's very sad when something like that happens to a nice neighborhood. It should be againist the law for things like that to happen. Happy weekend.

I have not had this problem lately. In fact I don't think I have ever had bad neighbors. I am also very particular about who I let near or in my home. Most of the repair work we do on the house and if someone from the phone company or anything like that comes one of us will monitor them while they are here. It is very sad when neighborhoods go down hill. I am so sorry you are dealing with this. It makes a person feel helpless. I will pray for you and your neighborhood. May you always be safe.

I am looking to purchase a home, and this is what I was afraid of. I want a good neighborhood, but I do not want it to get worse as the years pass though.

I think it is hard enough right now to find an enjoyable and good neighborhood. I do not even want to think of the future in this will be like.

That's really too bad to hear. Unfortunately we can't choose our neighbours. I don't blame you feeling uncomfortable with the changes occurring in your neighbourhood, especially since you were already a victim of theft. Did you report the stolen meds to the police at the time? It's quite true that while some people who rent are good, decent people who just need a place to live, others don't seem to care at all. But I think you get that with some home owners as well. It just depends on the individual.

Hmmmm. You'd think they would have looked into it at least. In any case, it's on record and will come up if any more trouble arises.

i think there is a real fear in the unknown and strange people who live around us. there is an overwhelming sense of security threat when there are suspicious people living near us. my neighborhood is relatively safe from some suspicious people who can do some crimes. but the city where i live is not anymore safe from crimes that sow fear and lurk on the streets.

That's not happening right where I live, but in the nearby cities. I grew up in a rather big city, and back then it wasn't too bad. Nowadays I'm terrified of going into the city because it's nothing but crime and gangs and so many other scary things.

Thanks for responding. I'm glad u aren't having problems like we are around here. It's a shame that people who rent houses will rent to riff-raff like thaT. Have a good one.

You poor thing anti what a way to have to live.We are so lucky where we live although with this recession biting and jobs being lost you never know how things will turn out.We hear about other areas around us that go down hill. All you need is one little vandel for want of a better word to move in and cause trouble. We do have a family down the road who moved in two years ago and their dog is always barking, cockrals crowing. We have tried to complain to the council but nothing ever really gets done about it.They dump problem families out in the sticks with nice people who tend their gardens and wash their cars ect,And it can drag the whole neibourhood down,We to have old people slowly dying off and being replaced with families who rent and like you say don't give a monkeys ,take carexx

HI SUZZY, Thanks for your response. It really doesn't make u feel good knowing trash like that is close by.One family like that can ruin your neighborhood. There are quite a few of us women here that are alone. It doesn't do any good to complain to anyone here either. Bet it would be different if it was their neighborhood.

A similar situation happened to us in our last house. We bought it in 2001 and it was a quiet street at the time, with great neighbours around us who had been there quite some time and were really quiet people that we got along with pretty well. Then in the space of around 12 months in about 2008/2009, it all changed as one neighbour after another left and were replaced by some unsavoury ones. The worst (for us) was a single mother with two teenagers who moved in to the rental directly across the street from us. Instead of having a good friend living there, we ended up with two ratbag kids who were never supervised and who had all their friends over all the time. So they went on as a group terrorise the surrounding streets using that house as their base. They drove us nuts! They threw things at houses (including ours) and were found in the yards of many properties. We no longer felt secure raising our children in the house and did not feel safe leaving anything outside our house in our yard. Everyone in the street had some kind of run in with the kids and the police were always being called out. So we sold our house and moved to a rural area where we cannot see our neighbours houses at all. Peace and quiet is lovely! And we no longer worry about our belongings outside, or whether our cars or the house is locked.
