If you are using computer to work, and earn some money, is it better and easier to have a laptop then a desktop? You can get very uncomfortable sitting in a chair for a long time, but with a laptop you can kick back and relax, you can sit on the couch, and just about anywhere you want to. What do you think about this?

When I had a laptop it was great. I think they are much harder to fix or upgrade tho, so you have to weigh the pros and cons.

Yes! Actually, that is the advantage laptops offer against desktop computers. Unless you are needing a super powerful computer, laptops is the best bet that you can have. In my opinion, desktop computers are becoming obsolete already for computers intended for personal use only. Most desktop computers are used now mainly as main computers or for companies and computer cafes. Well, even companies nowadays issues laptops to their employees due to the convenience they bring.

Yeah, laptop computers really can't get right enough as gaming computers. The specifications are enormous for gaming. Gaming shops really go for desktop computers. For personal, non heavy computer statistics stuff, laptops are the way to go. For high specification needs, desktops are more suitable.

Desktops have there purposes and advantages. They are best for gaming, a laptop will never compare to what a desktop can do. And desktops can be added to and worked on much easier.

It doesn't matter how comfortable you get, you will still get sick of sitting in the same place so long.

Honestly? I'd be sitting in a kitchen chair with my laptop most likely. THis is only because I dont' find it very comfy to use them whilst on a bed. I'd rather be sitting upright, and on a bed that's just not as possible. The only thing that would be cushioned is my butt because my back would be against a wall.
As is, I do plan to get a laptop. With the desktop I get up every once in awhile so that I can not be so stiff.

After being on a desktop all day, I wish I had a laptop for the portability.

True, for home use, ill prefer desktop because in terms of functionality, you can do a lot with it. hoping that someday they will develop a laptop that's more functional than a current desktop.

I love laptops! I actually prefer them over desktop computers mainly because I can sit on the bed while doing my paper or something. For me, laptops are more convenient since you can bring it to one place or another.

Yes laptops are certainly comfortable than desk top. Also laptops are portable and one can use it anywhere and is light to be carried anywhere. Also one can work on the laptop setting in a open air terrace. Now we have a device smaller and portable than laptop, the tablet or the ipad. So now ipad or tablet PCs are more comfortable than laptops also, what is your opinion on this.

I think ipads are nice, but I don't like the touch screen stuff. I like the good old keyboard and mouse.

Well both are helpful in work especially if you know how to use it well but if you are someone who just uses it for useless fun then it wont help at all. I just find laptop a lot more convenient as you can carry it around of course and when you travel you can still access work if you have laptop but when i am at work, i find it easier to use the desk top as i can type faster than the laptop,

It's all personal preference. A laptop could be easier for useless fun, as could a desktop. And both are good for work as well. I just think that a lot of work is more comfortable with a laptop.

Laptops are not necessarily better than desktops and desktops are not necessarily superior to laptops. It all depends on the benefits you want to help increase or activate your work productivity. If you want stability and longevity then a PC will probably be your best bet. If you want mobility and convenience then a laptop will be your best bet. Its all determined by the features you, yourself, are looking for upon the selection of technology.

laptops do not work goods at all, i mean they are ok if you want them beside your computer for going out or useing them in a place out side your home.
but they are not the one to choose for home, sometimes you need a longer control and better support that only desk top gets

Yes, I agree, but as far as working online, you do not need much, so they are good for that, and also, they are portable.

They are portable. I don't think having a laptop had anything to do with meeting your wife. You met her from a computer. It happened to be a laptop.

Laptops are really good to use than desktop because it is portable and can be carried anywhere I wanted. Than a desktop pc, which is so hard to deal with because it will just make your whole body ache after along time of sitting in a chair.

I definitely agree with that. I can't wait to get a laptop, then I will get a wifi at my house, and go everywhere I want with it, then when I go out somewhere, I can take it with and connect to their wifi. Great benefits of a laptop.

Laptop is less weight and can take anywhere around the world. We can connect datacards and get the world affairs in our hand witin a few minutes.Laptop is the easy way to finish the work and it never occupies large space like desktop and we can avoid wires that are always behind the desktop.Drawback of laptop is it gets heat soon and battery backup is low.
We can sit anywhere in our place and make chat with other people with the help of laptop and finsih our day to day work even from working at home.We can take laptop anywhere we go so that we always keep in touch with friends and world affairs.

Just gotta stay on top of it. Make sure the battery has a full charge when you leave the house, take a carrying case with the cord in case, and keep it plugged in when necessary. Nowadays they have they with 9 hour battery life.

It honestly depends on the kind of work that you're doing.
I have a work-at-home job where a laptop would not handle what I do, as it doesn't have the screen size necessary for everything that I do... It requires all three of my monitors.
There are other jobs where a laptop would be ideal.
For example, if you were a writer for a blog, or typing up reports, etc, a laptop would be great.
You could get comfortable in your favorite place, relax, and work with a peace of mind.

I had a desktop for many years, and I was perfectly happy that way. When my old desktop broke down I found a relatively cheap laptop and I decided to buy that laptop instead of a new desktop. Today I couldn’t go back to a desktop. I love the flexibility of the laptop too much. I can use my laptop in any room for instance the kitchen, the living room or the bedroom. I can place it on a table, I can keep it on my lap, I can write while I am l lying down on the couch etc. There are so many options when you have a laptop. You can’t just move the desktop so you have to sit in the same position all the time. That can be quite tiring if you want to spend many hours online.

Hi Lmfisher,
I am currently using my laptop. I just bought a laptop few months ago and until now, I am using it. I couldn't sit back and relax with it since I just put it in the table and just sit on the share which is similar with desktop. (There's actually no difference except that I can do more work in here since I have my own and I won't be bothered by my sisters on using the desktop).
Still, when it comes to convenience...then I should say it is the laptop. Plus, I can go anywhere with it. But I don't really bring it anywhere since I have my Ipod touch on which I can go online also.
Happy Mylotting.

There are some things desktops are just better at, and they have their advantages, but for working online I think a laptop is the way to go.

Using a desktop for some may be more preferable because it's more comfortable. However, with laptops the best thing about them is that their not attached to any long cords and what not and you can pretty much bring them anywhere.
But after long hours using a laptop, I can't really go on much further because it becomes uncomfortable for me.
Desktops and laptops has their own benefits, it only matters to the one who is using them!
