to what is actually in makeup? Some ingredients can be bad for us? Like ones with aluminum in the name and many others. Do we do any research or just use the make-up? Fish scales, formaldehyde, and that's just two. Do you pay any attention to what is in makeup, finger nail polish, etc. ??

I know this is a girl thing! My wife picks those makeups and stuff like that are not harmful to the skin. Before using it she even consulted her dermatologist, who happens to be her classmate in high school. Good thing. My wife seldom uses finger nail polish. Thanks

That is good that your wife is concious of possible problems. Finger nail polish could possibly have things in it(like formaldehyde) that could be harmful.

it makes sense to read the ingredients on make up too. i do like that there is peel off nail polish for which you don't need the acid based nail polish remover to take it off. i just wish it wasn't expensive!
i also have looked at cosmetics at a health food store (they have a little of everything natural) but again, the price is a bit prohibitive, but i don't wear much make up anyways.

I don't really buy makeup anymore, when I did there was no talk of carcinogens in makeup so I never really looked for the products but if I were to do it to day I would be looking for the most natural products.

Some of the women really don't mind the ingredients in the make-up as long as it makes them pretty and beautiful. But make-up does make you older when you used those not good brands and old make-ups. So be careful.

Yes, it is important to do our homework and beware of what we are putting on our faces.

I totally disagree whatever kind of makeup you do it will all lead to bad health.Everyone must live naturally. Why people think about giving an another face when the god has given us a kind of face.what is the benefit of make up and showing a different figure i do not know.Whatever kinds of protection one is attempting it will all be vanished in minutes or hours.Temporarily change will no way be helpful to anybody.Natural life will cause no defect in any way.Allow things to go as it is.

Just recently the Philippine police did a series of raids to confiscate cosmetics from a fellow Asian country that contained mercury. We are always reminded by the government not to buy anything with labels in another language we don not understand, but still many do. When I was younger, I did purchase a suspicious-looking face cream that thankfully didn't have any adverse effects. I don't use a lot of make-up-just powder and blush. I've used the same brand since high school---Clean&Clear, which is an internationally recognized brand. II never really looked at the list of ingredients, but I will do so the next time I buy a refill. I'll read before I toss out the box.

True that. But since in here smuggled cosmetics are sold at really low prices, some people can't help but purchase. Our people here have a fondness for very white complexion, so certain oriental products with fair-skinned models on the boxes entice people. We are constantly reminded to purchase only products approved by the Department of Trade and Industry. But sometimes, even DTI approved products contain small amounts of potentially harmful ingredients.

Oh not only make-up, but anti-perspirant also has aluminum in it as well as fluoride toothpaste. So I don't use toothpaste with fluoride and I use deodorant instead of anti-perpirant.

My wife and daughter loves this kind of stuff and i always tell them about this issue too. What they are answering is that they only use make up sometimes, which is not that bad in the skin and they take it off immediately before they sleep. I have read that washing face with face cleanser and putting cream can help regain the cells in your face that has been damaged. Same as with the guys !! So lets be careful and stay healthy

I have read an article also about a korean girl who gets addicted in make up, she didn`t take it off for two years even if she is sleeping. Since it is reported as an addiction, they went to the doctor and persuade her to take off her make up. You wont believe because when they take it off, her face looks double as her age. Lets be all careful and aware

And I bet if she was washing it off everyday and using a anit-aging moisturizer she would look half her age now. It is a shame it went that way but it is her choice.

I don't wear makeup, so I don't have to worry about what all is in it. I've read about how it can be much more harmful then good, and even cancerous. i do wear lipbalms from time to time, but that is as far as I will go.
I don't even paint my fingernails! lol!

There are many makeup things available. I don't even know how good they to our body.
Most of the things are for women, still many available for men too...
I just avoid using such things.

yeah i have heard couple of times about the side effects of excessive use of make ups. When used in excess, make ups not only make your skin patchy and but also take away the glow from the skin. They also tend to create rashes and allergies in extreme cases if its brand and ingredients are not paid attention to.

I don't really pay attention as to what's in it. I've been wearing makeup for thirty years with no ill effects but I do pay attention as to if it is cruelty free.
If I have a choice between a product that is not labeled cruelty free and one that is, sometimes it has a bunny on the bottom of the label and sometimes it just says not tested on animals, I always choose the bunny one.
Because then, it is usually all natural ingredients anyway.

Yeah, I feel I kill two birds with one stone this way. I know that expression doesn't quite mesh with the comment ha ha. Just an expression. I got a pamphlet from P.E.T.A. that helps with a list of all the cruelty free companies. Then I sent them a donation to cover postage. I keep it in my purse.

I do know some makeup and shampoo companies like L"oreal test on animals. I thought it was suppose to be illegal! I heard it isn't and saw a picture of a rabbit with most of its hair gone do to testing! I wish I had that photo to put on Mylot! Anyway I don't use make up and I will look into some of the other products I use like shampoo to see if animal testing is done! It is not a good thing!

Celtice, i seldom use make-up nowadays. Only when i am attending formal function, then only i will wear make-up. A few years ago, i wear make-up almost everyday, since it is my job requirement. I do use nail polish once in a while but never do any research regarding the ingredients that being used to make those make-up and nail polish. Since now i am more careful about my health, i prefer not to wear them as much as possible.

Most of the women are interested with beauty cosmetics and buy them for huge prices. Always they go for expensive things, but most of them are not aware about the negative side of the beauty items. Most of the beauty and make up items are made with the chemicals which is not good for our health. Too much of make up will make our skin to be fade and shrink, we may get pimples, blemishes and other skin issues due to high usage of make ups.
Other cosmetic items like nail polish, mascara and other things also have great chemical substances it may affect our eyes, too much of eye make up is not good for your eyes. Nail polish is having some unwanted chemicals, if we take food with our polished nails and if we swallow the nail polish without our knowledge while eating, it may give some stomach problems.
The acids, fomaldehydes, compounds which are added to make the make up items is not good for us and having side effects. Too much of make up will spoil our natural beauty. God already provide natural beauty to us. There is nothing wrong in wearing make up while going to parties and important events, but too much of make up is not good for us and spoil our natural beauty.
