i have had arguments with my partner whether we should watch news on TV or eat on table and talk about the significant happenings on the day. the night news on TV usually happens during dinner time. i particularly like this TV news. she likes to have time with me and eat. It may sound petty, but the argument is not good. Help...

Well, that's interesting coz i always watch TV while i was having dinner.I treat it kind of like leisure time and also enjoy that. After we end the whold day's busy work,i suppose that's a very good idea to know what's happening around us.Have great day.

Can it not be done all together? I mean, I'm sure not all of the news are that interesting anyway, so then that would be a good time to talk about something else.

It is preferable that the television not be on during mealtimes. Actually, if I had my way, I probably wouldn't even have a television. I have gone through periods where I didn't have a television and only watched whatever was available online when the mood struck; that worked fairly well.

This is one argument I get with my dad regularly. We usually eat in the dinning hall which has a TV on the wall.I am always used to see movies or any other program while watching TV.My dad always shouted at me saying that I am wasting my time by prolonging the time I eat by watching TV.This happened when I was in my school days. Now my dad argues with me that, dinning table is on of the common places where a family will talk over things and I should not be watching the TV and I should spend time with my parents during the dinning. My dad also has the point there.I would suggest you ti turn down the volume when your partner wants to talk to you so that you will have your attention for her and also be watching news(although not as before-only glimpses).Sacrifices have to be made.

Yes i too have the same habit though it is not a good habit. Usually at a lunch on week off and at the time of diner we use to watch TV programs. It is said that it is not at all good to do this. One should concentrate on diner only while taking diner instead of doing any additional activities along with it. I think your partner is very right to have some time with you and eat.

It takes away from conversation and from focusing on food and eating. I know when I am in front of the television, I tend to zone out and not focus.

My hubby and I mix it up and do both during the week. Sometimes we have a nice sit down meal and talk, other times we eat in the living room in front of the TV. When we have kids we will start eating at the dinner table all the time for family dinners but since it is just me and him right now it is fine we eat in front of the TV and talk during commercials

my husband has to be glued to the tv. he has always insisted on watching tv while we eat ever since we were married. i always wanted to eat at the table when my kids were small and still would love to do that now that my kids are older. no one needs to watch tv THAT much.

I still remember my childhood days my parents are really strict in rule when it regards in eating. We should be always focus in what we are eating, eat in a proper place, in the dining area. No singing while eating, no watching TV, or too much talking, we must concentrate in the food. They always told us to respect food because it is a blessing. Since then it was in my mind, even now I told this to my kids to be a good model I want them also to teach their kids to have respect on food what they have.

Well, somehow I do not exactly like eating while watching TV. However, whenever we watch TV while having dinner, we mostly watch daily SOPS, or some Reality show. We hardly argue. Sometimes, I like to watch a sports match. It happens without much arguments. However, one can never guess when one can start arguing about their programs.
