Hi,
There's no way I would want to be stranded on island. It sounds good to be alone and be surrounded with nature. But it's also scary to be there knowing that something might attack you. I'd rather go on a park and enjoy my day with happy people around.
Have a nice day.

I am not quite so stressed now days but there was a time when I would have thanked the Gods if I was stranded on a remote island somewhere. I had to take a leave of absence from my job because of severe depression, stress, and panic attacks. I had a very complex job and with all the stress in my personal life and at the job i just couldn't do it. I finally was offered a early retirement and I took it. Then was able to get on SSD very quickly so I was lucky. Yes, I would have given up TV and I don't have a cell phone so that wouldn't be a problem for me at all. I would miss my tv shows though.

I'm glad I am no longer living the life i was. And, yes, it is a very good thing to retire early.

Yes, many people would enjoy the getaway from real life, but most would want to return. It is always a good thing to retire early.

AS a kid, I have always dreamed of something like that. Living alone in an island where I can have a small farm and raise some animals and fish and just fend for myself. Now, though, life has become more meaningful and I think I would like to share myself with the people I care. What I now do wish though is to be living life where I am a wealthy man.

In this situation wealth would be meaningless. This could be a meaningful life, it depends on your definition of meaningful.

Yes, everyone in the world would like to be wealthy. It would be a great thing. If I were a billionaire, I would give some to poor people, and make a good difference.

I do wish that sometimes. As long as I had shelter, food, supplies and 1 or 2 people then I would be ok. oh yeah, maybe my dogs too - they would love it too.

I think at first it would be great with two people, but eventually there would be fighting and there would be no way to get rid of them. This could be worse if you were starving, one would kill and eat the other.

Everyone is too busy these days. With all the struggle to keep ahead, it is hard to have any time to enjoy life.

Sure, sometimes this sounds like something I would actually enjoy. But other than just to get away, no I wouldn't like it because I'd want to get back to my life. Sometimes it is a tempting thought, however.

Your life is wherever you take it. This would not be ideal for most, as their lives are ruled by possessions.

Yes this is quite true. I think I mainly meant that I will miss my family or friends if I were gone and they were not with me.

Not exactly on an island, but in a log cabin back in the mountains. I'd love that, at least for awhile. I'd want a wood stove and some reading material and the rest would be just working to get the basics of what I needed.
It sounds awesome in my daydreams anyway.

No, not really. However, I wouldn't mind a cabin or yurt in the woods with high-speed internet (of course) and no neighbors for at least half-a-mile. I've spent too much time during the past couple of years living in places with neighbors right on the other side of the wall from me; that is just a little too close for my tastes. I like my space, and the fact that the people that I've been living next to (especially the current ones) aren't properly wired doesn't exactly help matters.

Hmmm...sounds interesting but I would have to think first if I can survive those times and depends on who I am with...I am not that challenging person but then, I guess I would give it a try if I am sure I have someone with me who doesn't bother me much...

I would think in this situation, anyone that you are with will bother you eventually. That will be the only person you ever see for the rest of your life.

Never! Annoying technology happens to be the foundation of my life at the moment and although I feel very dependent making that statement, it is actually very true! I do not want to be stranded anywhere without a full battery and connection to the internet because if these aspects are missing in my life, I'm not sure what I would do first! I would be totally lost!
My survival instinct would kill me faster than panicking because I've never been good in nature and I've only been camping like once in my life. I've surfed the net probably over three billions times though!

Sounds like you are too dependent on you tec. I once heard a saying, own your things, don't let them own you. Once in the situation, I'm sure you would surprise yourself how the instincts would kick in.

Not a bad idea, thinking about being stranded in an island and survive alone would not be a bad idea as I would be free to live alone without any kind of attachments, also with full freedom, surviving with what instincts tell me to do ..

It would be great, you would need to find a place that would have enough food to sustain life though.

Being born in the country and growing up with the nature, I think I have always wanted to live in the wilderness, even for a while. Yes, it's enthralling to be surrounded by the technology, the perks of living in the noisy and lively city, but I have come to realize that I would still want to end up living the way I was brought up. I may not have been living in an island, but I have fantasized about it sometimes, especially when I have watched the similar scenarios on TV shows, and such. I have experienced living without cell phones and TV so I know I could get away with it once more.

The movie "into the wild" had really explored this. It was a very touching movie, and I think if more people were like that guy, the world would be a more enlightened place.

Generally, after witnessing so many hurdles in the day to day life disturbing our concentration in seeing tv,working in computer, worrying for past and future, thinking about making money to meet both ends,we could be calmly forgetting the world an thinking only the above the creator who has give a chance to live alone without any sort of thinking. To my opinion,it is a better chance to sit tightly doing yogas which will learnt to me useful to protect and prevent evils and ill health and will knowledge.

Actually NO. I do not wish to be alone in an island. I can't live without my cellphone, television, internet and of course my family and friends. I don't think I can even survive in a day. I will not know where to find food and find drinkable water. And I don't think I will have a fantastic time in the island because they don't have air condtioning and they don't have a supermarket and a mall. I'll just pretty much have a hard time surviving. As you can see, I am not the camper type. But i'll be willing to be stuck in an island if that island had everything in the world plus my family and friends. That will be really cool.

Nope not ever wanted to be stranded on an island. Now if I could own an island and live there that would be great! I just don't like the idea of being stranded anywhere.

Anyway, how relaxing would that be. Well, honestly, I can not imagine how life goes without cellphone and internet if stuck in an island. I may survive but maybe unhappy. :-(

I think tat it would be a nice fantasy to be stranded on a desert island. Only I don;t think that feeling would stay with me for too long. I could only bare the loneliness for just so long. The adventure of being along in a vast world would not sustain me. I would want the comfort of others around me.

You could always take your family with you and live off the land. Build yourself a nice house, catch your food. Would be an interesting experience.

Hello Lmfisher666,
In many ways, I guess I am stranded on an island with my netbook and my internet connection.
I say that because I live alone and I have the freedom to work on my computer whenever it feels right.
I also have the freedom to go out and interact with others when I'm in the mood to deal with the rat race.

No,I have never thought about it.I have read about people who were stranded in an island.I have read 'Robinson Crusoe'.Really a wonderful story. But I would rather like to be stranded in a dense jungle trying to procure food from somewhere.I love jungles and wild life- the denizens of jungle. It would be more exciting for me if I get a chance to find myself alone in a jungle struggling to survive there.I am sure I will find out a way out there. It would be an adventure for me.

I have imagined myself stranded on an island...with barely nothing to use. And no...even in my imagination, I know I wont survive! I love living in this kind of place since my neighborhood isnt like the city. Provincial life or country life is enough. having a computer plus a very good internet connection and all the convenience I need, well...that's well and good for me. I dont ever wish to be stranded on an island. I wont last long!!!
