Do you complain about your work or colleagues?

I have been working for two of my summer holidays and I discovered that quite a few of my colleagues always complain about their work or sometimes other colleagues as well. Usually, they complain they have too much work to do or have to work over time. They also complain about the other colleagues saying that just do nothing. I am fine with having a large workload and stay for a couple of hours longer as I like to keep myself busy though it seems a bit weird. Otherwise, if I am too relaxed or have nothing to do, I will feel bored.I don't usually complain about my colleagues. If i do, this person must be really irresponsible or those who don't try to make a single effort on getting their work done properly. I will be really annoyed by these people. I will never ask them to work as hard as I am but I think they should at least get their bit done. How do you deal with these colleagues? Do you just ignore them and concentrate on your on performance and work or do you just keep complaining to other people or do you do something else?

I know someone or some people who are always complaining about their work place, and their work mates... i give them no other reason or i do not rub it in further to them. To all companies where i have been to there are always people who are like these, they usually are the ones who cause others to feel the same and those others influenced have been affected and they leave the company, and those who caused the negativity around... is actually the one who stays behind.

This is quite true. I think these people who make loads of complaints would like to make a bad mood for those who originally have no bad feeling about their job to feel bad and then they will decide to leave their work. Then the chance of those who complain to stay inside the company can increase in case of redundacy.

I do not usually complain about my work but I do tell my husband what has happening everyday. In our office, it is true that some employees have large volume of workload while some were just waiting for the end of the month to receive their salaries. But I find it funny because if they are given a job that would make them busy, they would keep on complaining and boasting how tiresome their jobs are. I just ignore them because I know the real story.
But I have a colleague that likes to brag about her activities and some of our bosses thinks that she really does so many workloads. That is kind of frustrating for someone who works everyday.

I agree with you that quite a few people just receive salary but almost do nothing while the others are doing all the things for these people. The most annoying thing is they try to brag about their activities, claiming they have done everything and make loads of contribution. I think this is the thing some people have to learn. I am not saying telling lies to your bosses but to actually let your bosses know what you have done and they will then realise that who is working and who is not. I understand it might be difficult but this is really what some people have to learn as I've said. Otherwise, they will always be thought to be those who don't make contribution but they have actually made loads.

Sometimes I just ignore them but there are times I got irritated with my colleagues. They are too much reactive on some issues at workplace. Sometimes they keep on forcing you to do more even you cannot have it already because of the heavy workloads.

I agree with you and I just try to ignore what you say. It is quite annoying as well when they try to keep you working while you already have loads to do. If there's not that much to do, I am happy to keep working because I found it really boring to just sit there and do nothing.

I think it is normal to complain about the work. I believe that almost all people I know complain about it. Sometimes they have reason, sometimes is just because they are stressed and they need to complain about something.
I believe the best thing we need to do when we are not motivated to do something is to change. Try to find another job or to talk with the people to make the workplace a nice place.
Sometimes I get myself complaining about my job too. But I believe I am right about the things that I complained and more important, I did something. I found a new job and I hope it will be better than my actual. Happy mylotting.

Changing job might be a suitable choice if one finds himself working in an unhappy environment. I usually don't join my colleagues for complaining but if they ask me for my opinion, then I will reply by 'agreeing' with them though this might not be truely what I meant deep inside myself because I would like to build up a good relationshihp with them and I really don't want to be isolated by everyone else.

Well I am just learned to ignore them to avoid making may mood bad and affect my work too.It is up to them what they wanted to do as long as they don't affect my work, but if it does,I always stand for myself to confront and tell the person to finish and correct their work that affect mine before doing things that are not related to work.
Sometimes it is better to leave them and ignore to avoid misunderstanding but there always time to face the truth for it to change for the better.

I tend to ignore what they complain if it does not affect me so as to keep a good relationship with them. However, as what you've said, if what they have done affect my work, I will definitely try to make them do their bit properly and won't bother anymore after that because it is not my business anymore. My head should deal with this himself.
