While I petsit I noticed they don't recycle or compost. I would set the recycling on the counter as I couldn't find the boxes. They would just throw it out so I brought it home to throw it in our bins. In college none of my roomates would recycle or compost either. I was raised to do both and throw as little in the garbage.

We have special bins here, and we usually have 3 -4 boxes each week. I try to recyle and compost as much as possible.

I don't compost. It stinks. Like...what do you do with watermelon rhrines? I put them in plastic bags and seal them up so the trash doesn't stink. We don't have a garden so I don't see a need to compost.

Hi 911Ricki, I keep all those paper stuffs, cans, bottles as well as all the recyclable stuffs for recycling. I don't keep any leftover and I will dump them straight away as compost in my backyard. Other than leftover peels, rotten fruits and vegetables as well as others waste stuffs that are good compost materials will go to the same pile for composting. I use my homemade compost as my veggies and flower plants fertilizer Worms love all those waste dumping stuffs. I could see this clearly from their excreta here and there in my little veggie garden very morning I save quite some expenses for not buying that much organic fertilizers. Happy posting

It must not be mandatory for them to do this there. Here we all recycle as much as possible too and compost alot of stuff. It works for us, but is a pain to wash all the plastics out, and such sometimes. I have alot of urges to throw out the peanut butter containers and such cause they're just so messy to wash before recycling but I don't, I still wash them and recycle as usual. It's not like anyone else will do it for me, here. Ugh. I like to think I'm trying t help the earth though this way.
