Before, I easily catch colds and this will last for more than a week. I have spent a lot for medicines. A blessing came to me when a friend gave me a basil seedling for planting and he told me that it is good for colds. And true enough when I got symptoms for colds I ate the leaves (raw)... around 20 in one setting... three times a day. Alas! the colds left me before it was able to bring me down!
Try it for yourselves...

I use Vitamin C and zinc for colds, perhaps basil has both? This is good to know, thank you for telling us about it!

Yes, Vitamin C and zinc are good for colds but Basil cost nothing and it has no adverse effect on our kidneys.

Wow..I have never heard of the Basil before. I have used Vitamin C like the other responder but never basil. I have also learned there are ingredients in Chicken Noodle soup that actually does fight a cold too. In the winter I usually keep orange juice and chicken noodle soup around just in case. Is there a certain type of basil to use or is it all the same?

Hello factorial
Wow! Thank you for sharing this helpful information. I have colds and cough so I guess this information is helpful but I don't have basil seed.:(.. Too bad!... I'm tired drinking medicine so I'm looking for a herbal medicine. I drink a lot of water and juice because they said it's helpful.
I wanna try the basil seed but don't know where to find it..
Thank you for sharing..
