Terrorist-Who do they kill for 'god' or self?

I have often heard terrorist kill and they release a video that they are killed for 'god' and that they are fighting the course of 'god'. I have often thought about it that. I wonder how do they destroy a life and say that they are killing for their belief. Are they killing for 'god'or for their their preconceived belief?

Hi Chikezie! That is a very interesting question for discussion or debate. Here is my point of view on it in a few words.
With the coming of Jesus Christ, there was a fundamental change in the way his followers would do things. They were no longer to kill for any reason. He stated that we should love our neighbors and that we should love our enemies. Those two commandments do not allow killing anyone.
That may leave room for others killing true Christians. While others may kill us, we do not kill them. We hope that our love and different way of life might change their conduct. If someone should kill us, that is not the end, for the God who created life can recreate our life in a different world.

I believe that many of them actually believe that they are doing something good, that they are doing what God wants them to do, that is kill people.
And you are right the Bible foretells such actions and attitudes on the part of some. Notice:
John 16:2-3 King James Version (KJV) 2 They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service. 3 And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me.
Yes, some of us will be killed. However God promises that as a whole, his word and truth will spread more and more in spite of what the world does and God's people will increase. One day, God will remove from the earth all those that hate and kill.
God never fails!

That is right, these terrorists kill on behalf of their belief. But it is definitely not under the order of God except the order of their leader and for the benefit of their religion. That is no doubt about it, it is not from God except the great evil one, God has became a convenient three letter words in the mouth of all these terrorism operatives publicity video stunt to confuse the simple mind among some faithfuls.

Most of the time they kill their hostages as a way to demand for compliance of whatever ransom they want from foreign country, but sometimes they do it to show their unquestionable loyalty and commitment to their terror leader or their religion teacher, usually for self exuberance.

It is what they believe, they believe it so strongly they are willing to die for it. Religion is a strange thing, every one disagrees on it.

Hi Chikezie, It is clear that such people have been led astray by others. I think they believe that they are doing it for God because they have been indoctrinated to believe that. In the same way,Jews believe that they are God's chosen people because that belief has been drilled into them from birth. Blessings.

In my own opinion, killing someone has nothing to do with God. Obviously, they do kill for their own reason, for themselves and for their religion but absolutely not for God.
On the otherhand, we do have different beliefs and religions and each is referring to their own god. We don't know what kind of teachings their beliefs or religions are teaching them.
But as for me, I don't have a religion but I believe in God. And as far as I am concern, the God who created the earth is a merciful God. He created us out of love and in His image. Do you think that killing or ending someone's life has nothing to do with love nor with mercy.

God does not need any humans soul, and also they are not doing it for religion, they doing it for their self or they brain washed. They know very well if they release such a video of killing somebody ,it will create a bad name to the religion , even though they are publishing those videos means its not for religion ,its for the self or other reason.
Other thing is no body knows the originality of those videos , who are those killers ? Whome they are killing? . How they are issuing those videos to media ? If they use internet or postal service ,they will be caught easily..
May be These videos can create by terrorist to make fear about their organisations or Some facist may made those videos to create wrong image to other religion. God knows the truth.

Those people might be "programmed" to believe that they are killing for God. If they believe they are killing for God they feel justified in taking another life.
I was taught that God is about love so killing for God...
doesn't make any sense, to me.

I believe that God will not want anybody harmed by terrorist or anybody for them to prove they worship Him. It is clear to see that they kill because of their preconceived belief, the question is what type of god are they believing or worshipping to, because until now I can't fathom where they learned such beliefs.
I even wonder if they do that for their beliefs or for greed.
