I do enjoy going to cafes/bars, but I prefer to go to those places only when it's not too crowded. As I live in a small town, all the cafes and bars in town have staff that know me, so I normally get specials and preferential treatment from them. 
These places would be great hangout places like you mentioned, but as I am still single, hanging out on my own would seem a bit awkward......

The problem is, I don't know people well enough for me to be comfortable asking them out to a cafe/bar. 
It's normally other people that ask me out to those cafes/bars to join their family meals or for a get-together. I guess that's always going to be a problem when you're single and alone.

Hey thanks for this lovely piece of discussion.
Rightly said, bars and cafes are the best place to hang out not only with your friends but also with your near and dear ones. You can enjoy the food and music both at the same time and also have a great time your friends and family mates.
Yeah i like going to these places.

I use to in my younger days & had a big ol' time. I love music, loved to dance & my friends & i went alot.Back when we were going one of my grandmother's told me that she sure would like to go to the club we went to all the time. I told her to name the night & i would take her ANY time she wanted to go. Guess we would had to knock my dad out, lol but she never came up w/a night & then she got in real bad health. I would have loved to have taken her.

Most Cafe/bars in my location is really not a good place to enjoy and relax because of so many people coming in and out, talking/chatting or even the noise of their coffee machines.
The quiet cafe/bars are full because of people staying their for hours even though they have just ordered one drink. It is better to find a park somewhere to hang-out.

There is nothing wrong with staying hours only ordering one drink. Those places don't have a time limit.

It is really nice to hang-out sometimes in those places that you have mentioned. As I sometimes, enjoy going on that kind of place Though it is not a place where you can find a family environment but its fine.

I have seen a few that were family friendly. They had the bar seperated from the eating area.

cool places to hang on with friends. but I really don't like the noisy ones. soft and moody music is a good option .. with family i think home is the best place to spend time

I don't like too noisy either. The family sometimes wants to go out, not always stay home.
