Hello strawberryshortcake and welcome to myLot. I hadn't thought about muffin for breakfast for a while. once I saw your discussion I decided to look up some savory muffin recipes and found some very interesting ones that I think I will be trying. I see some using sun dried tomatoes, Pepperoni N Chive, cranberry corn muffins. The recipes can be found at ifood TV. At http://www.ifood.tv/network/savory_muffin/recipes I also found recipes for bacon Cheddar cheese and chives. Besides the usual muffin ingredients it calls for bacon garlic powder, dried chives,Parmesan cheese, shredded sharp Cheddar cheese and cream of mushroom soup which sound interesting.
How about chickpeas and grapes or a muffin of chard, zucchini and Swiss cheese, http://allrecipes.com/Recipes/Bread/Muffins/Savory-Muffins/

I haven't tried any of these but you can bet I'm going to.

Mmm yes savory muffins, great idea!! Bacon, cheese and chives sound good to me. Use a vegitable broth and an egg, and veg oil for my liquids. Then flour, baking powder, salt, "maybe" pepper, a pinch of sugar, chives, cheese, and then the bacon... Sounds like a good breakfast muffin to me! Thank you!!
