The shard

The tallest building in Europe The Shard has been built in London, bankrolled by Qatar. There is much ownership of London buildings by offshore developers, this just the latest and tallest and very unusual. This is 310 mtrs high and took 3 years to build using German glass in Dutch frames. Have anyone seen the pictures and what do you think, is it a good addition to the London skyline. Is foreign investment in this way good for Britain?

I assume the question whether it is a good addition to London skyline or not should be left for the residents of that city to judge, after all, with an additional high concrete structure like this one within London, it will affect the living quality on most of them, instead of outsider like me; only they can tell what sort of good /bad the skyscrapper bring with it to London since they are residing in that city. For the tourists to London, they may stand a chance to see another magnificient office building along with all others, it may take their breathe away. So how much investment dollars Qatari is willing to commit itself into Britain after this building is built, i mean the real dollar amount invest into manufacturing process in making goods by local and enpowerment to domestic economy growth, how many local workers that can be hired to work within the building instead of providing comfy and luxurial office living for their Qatari executives? That is what i will consider as good foreign investment if many British can be hired by the building owner, if it only hire Qatari for high paying job, then this investment is bad.

lamps I can always rely on you to give postings a good depth of thought. The point that even in it's construction the glass coming from Germany and there's an awful lot of it and the frames coming from Holland and there's plenty of them gave little or no employment to people in Britain. As for the employment by the occupiers of the building, as we are members of the EU our country is open to all other EU members for employment. It remains to be seen how many Brits. will be employed but it will cost £25 to go to the top and that starts next week. The building is not finished internally so as yet the actual occupiers is not general knowledge.

Just judged the best contribution Lamps at least a conversation with you is not a mutual admiration thing. We normally come from different angles with different views. All The Best.

I have just searched it online and have seen its picture in which it is shaped like an irregular pyramid and magnificent. In my books no matter who the owners are,Shard is located in London ,which lends colour to London and nobody can move it.
