Human DNA is 99% match with that of a Chimpanzee

This is a really interesting read from pbs.org. Scientists have discovered that 99% of our DNA is in common with that of chimpanzees. They didn't say that we came from apes, like what is shown on Darwin's Theory of Evolution, but their recent findings shows that humans DNA is a close match to the chimps.. Imagine, 99%!!! But, don't worry, the 1% makes a whole lot of difference. Read more from this link and let me know what you think == http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/evolution/dna-human-evolution.html

Neither Darwin nor genetic scientists have ever claimed that chimpanzees (or any other ape) one day magically became human. What genetics (and the 'theory of evolution' - so called because it is the description of a process which accurately describes and accounts for the observable facts and is therefore no longer a 'hypothesis') tell us is that humans and chimpanzees (and the other apes) had a common ancestor. Presumably, if this was a species which was still alive today, we would call it an ape. It wouldn't be a chimpanzee or a gorilla but it would, eventually, have had descendants which differed more and more with each successive generation until one could see the differences at a glance and could call them different species. The article is a very good description - one of the best I have seen - which explains something of what genes are and what functions they have. Thank you for sharing.

My husband have become a fan of this website. He is very interested in matters like these. And he told me the story and then I thought of sharing it with myLot friends to find out how'd they'd react. There are more interesting articles in there, like the genes switch and somethign that says all animals came from fish.

Hello, does that mean I am 99% chimpanzee?Next time when I look at the mirror,I'll not be surprised,if I saw a chimp in it. woo wooo

Take a picture and post it here... Seriously, you don't have to take it that way. THe findings was more of telling us that animals do have strong links with each other, based on DNA components, but still unique since DNA structures are more comprehensive and intricate than we can imagine. Take twins for example. They may look totally the same, but there are still features that are unique.

When were small,we looked and did things which monkey do.But monkey babies become mature faster than human babies and do things like adults just one or two months after their birth. It all because we care for our babies than monkeys.A baby which is not looked after well, will have to learn to walk and run by itself,if it wants to survive.

I beg to disagree about looking like monkeys when we're babies. we're not as furry as them, and babies are much cuter.

Yes 1% is a whole lot of difference and I am not sold to the theory of Darwin!
