Hi friends, I was away from Mylot from almost an year. I was on my family way and now have a new born of 2 months old. I need your suggestions on Rota virus vaccine. Doctor said its optional I studied few things on net about Rotavirus and got some side effects caused by that vaccine so I am confused weather to give the vaccine or not please suggest.

Hi dear, nice to see you after a long time. How are you? Do you remember about this brother? good to hear about this new birth. Is it your kid? I have two sons with 5 and 3 years old, but i never heard about this vaccine. As you mentioned it is an optional one as well as it is having some side effects, better to avoid this vaccine for your safer side

Hi Chaitra Yes, seen you after long. First of all Congratulation. Hope baby and you both are fine. About Rota Virus vaccine, I am really not an expert or I don't have any knowledge on that also. Well, if side effects from the vaccine are not much in compare to the effects which can get if we don't give to kids.. than better you go for it. We have some good doctors friends on mylot.. I hope they will able to explain more on this thing. Wait for their answers.

Hi Friend, Thanks, and we both are fine.. I saw the side effects which may lead to bowel blockage and might require surgery and few other effects so I am worried to give that vaccine.. So hope I get some good suggestions from our Doctor friends here.

Heartiest Congratulations to you Chaitra on the new arrival. Hope the baby is doing fine. I've no idea about this new Rota virus vaccine. However, if your Doctor says that it is useful for the baby and you rely on your Doctor, you could go for it.

My son got his rotavirus vaccine. Yes according to the pedia, it is optional but it will help and prevent your son from having extreme diarrhea especially when your kid is at the stage of putting everything he/she hold into his/her mouth. But I think my son got his rotavirus vaccine when he was at his 4ht or 5th month, I can't remember the exact. I don't know if it is applicable to 2 month old baby.

I have a 17 month old and I'm having another one here with in the next 11 weeks. I would get it done. Regardless of any shots you get your kids there is always going to be some side effects. There is side effects from taking what ever. It just gives them the virus so if they do get it they have a better chance of fighting it off and they won't get as sick. The worst that has ever happened to my daughter is she runs a slight fever. What I do is give her infant pain/fever reducer for 24 hours after the shot is done. At the end of the month she is having the last of her shots for her first year of life. She won't have any more till she is two and then after that none outside one flue shot and then she'll have her next set right before kindergarden.
