I am thinking of getting a tablet computer

I simply don't have the money, though. I'm not exactly sure what I'm looking for but I know I'd need a tablet with a large screen and will display very large print for reading at a glance or referencing, and support .pdf files. I think they cost over 100 dollars and I really am struggling in debt payments especially during the lean months of summer so I think I'll wait until next year but at least I can do is do some research.
In the meantime my Rabbi is doing up a Siddur book done in large print so that I can go along with the liturgy with the rest of the congregation, since I'll never be able to see the overhead even with my telecopic aid, the print is just too small and the background is kind of a dark pink colour so there's absolutely no way I'll be able to read the hebrew transliteration at all. I don't mind paying for the cost, since it's a small congregation, but still I would have preferred the tablet so I can go completely paperless (I'm kinda of a tree hugger lol).
Anyone can recommend someone suitable for a visually impaired person? Just some ideas I can think about over this year and to have an idea where to start looking, what to look for, and the price so I can start saving up on? Thanks in advance.

I guess you need to save in order to get a tablet. My wife also planns to have tablet but she said that we will buying one on December when we received our 13th month pay. We have a new laptop though.
When it comes to your problem in reading because of eye probem, better consult a doctor on how to correct it. Here in our country there is one clinic (natural doctor) that sells eye drop oil that helps retain the 20-20 vision. This oil can also cure some eye problem like cataract and even glaucoma.

I always hated those over head projectors in school...it wasn't much more than writing on notebook paper and taping it to the wall! And if you had less that 20/20 vision... you struggled. I know I did. Chalk board was a little better but then they wouldn't erase much and it got so jumbled, the writing started being small...and couldn't see it! I understand your need.. I dont' know about these electronic devices, and have no use for them, but still... I like to try to stay informed.. I am still in the 20th century on some things, but try to keep up!

I'm legally blind and under an eye specialist care, I go every year, and have glasses, so I'm being taken care of in that way. The problem is, I could never read what's on the blackboard and later on the overhead projector without adaptive visual aids. While some places will have overheads with white backgrounds and larger letters, the one at the synagogue is smaller and on a darker background. That's why when we go through the liturgy part of the service I'd have have a large-print Siddur in my hands (which the rabbi is doing up for me this week) or an electronic version on it on a tablet since it has a large enough screen on it.

Tablet and you are serious ?? When you don't have enough money and why do you want to buy a tablet ? They are just show off gadgets owned by some rich people who just want to show off that they have enough mone to buy it . If you are seriously considering a device , buy a laptop . They are considerably cheaper than tablets and definitely offer a lot more options and raw power when competed with show off device like tablets which just flaunt touch screens . Though laptops are a big bulkier and sans that equal portability , they are a lot better when it comes to get the real work done . For example , you can't do a real powerpoint presentation or a excel worksheet on a tablet . They are good only for normal web browsing and some games which you wont be able to everytime . Definitely windows is always better than Android or iOS for that matter . Laptops offer many features for disabled persons and can be of much help . They contain many features like magnifier , voice commands etc which can be of much use . Anyway it depends whether you really want a device to do some serious work or just because your friends own one .
Happy mylotting

I have a laptop but I'm not about to walk in with a laptop in my hands looking at it opened up like that, and I'm just looking for something simple and cheap, that would read .pdf files and it's also lightwieght that I can hold easily in my hands and read the liturgy from it while everyone else reads from the overhead projector. The contrast would be so much better than light on a dark-coloured wall. This isn't for serious work, and it doesn't even has to connect to the Internet. But it is so much easier to carry one and be able to pull up a pdf file that sort of thing.

If you need a low price tablet, it is better to go for Ubislate series. They have launched world's lowest price tablet with a price of almost 60$. It is bundled with a keyboard, so that we can also use it as a Laptop too. I could say that it has almost reached all the specification of a medium rate tablet, 7 inch display, 800 processor, android 2.3 version.

Thank you I'll look it up, I'm surprised they're that cheap, since the iPad is upwards #1000, so here this one is under even $100 that's good news for me since I'm on a tight budget and would have to save up. Thank you for your recommendation. Does it also read .pdf files as well? And what about USB cords from my laptop to the tablet? USB is an important feature, so I can easily transfer files.

I already have a PC, a Laptop, a Notebook and a Smart Phone. Then what is the requirement of a tablet. Buying a tablet now means wastage of money. I alone can't use all at the same time.

A specific statistic says that in 2016-2017 everyone will own his/her own tablet at home that will substitute the old computers and also to play games, to browse the internet, to earn money, to chat, to make video and audio calls and something like this! At the moment it's not healthy and fitness to buy one!
