we will see the lakers emerge as early favorites to win the western conference championship and even the nba cahmpionship with this upgrade. i know, steve nash is already old and has spent 16 seasons in the nba without winning an nba title. the guy deserves to win a title in my book. i've always been a fan of steve nash. i always thought that he would retire as a phoenix suns player without winning a title. if this deal pushes through, then both nash and the lakers are certainly a step closer to winning it all this upcoming season. i read somewhere that nash was about to sign with the toronto raptors on canada day and wayne gretzky even recorded a video encouraging nash to play for canada's team in the nba. not sure what happened to that but i think its safe to say that it won't happen.
imagine this, the lakers have a formidable frontline with gasol, bynum, and meta world peace. they have the scoring prowess of kobe and nash quarterbacking this team. i tell you, this lakers team will be fun to watch. add the fact that nash will be a good leader on the floor and in the locker room for the younger los angeles players. word is grant hill, who is nash's best friend and team mate in phoenix will also be signing with the lakers as well.
so my fellow mylotters, what's your take on this? do you think steve nash signing up with the lakers this upcoming season is enough for them to be nba champions this year?
feel free to chime in everyone.
cheers and happy mylotting!!!

Definitely a heavy favorite to win the Western Championship but if they can add Dwight Howard, they will form another dynasty. Kobe will surpass Michael Jordan in championships won and will establish a legacy that would take decades to even match. The off season is still early and other teams still have a chance to retool. It would certainly be an exciting off season.

hi beaver114.
talks resumed between the lakers and the magic about a possible howard for bynum trade. the lakers can't give up draft picks though as they used up their 2013 and 2015 draft picks in the nash trade. nba regulations prevent a team from using successive draft picks. also, the lakers need to get either hedo or jrich's contract for the magic to push through with the trade. that could get costly for the lakers. i would add though that between hedo and jrich, i'd choose hedo. doubt if we see howard move to la but let's see.

took awhile to update this thread but you got your wish beaver114.
dwight howard did move to los angeles after all the drama. on paper, it seems that los angeles lakers is a shoo in for the finals but there are doubters still. my take on all this, if dwight howard remains committed to playing basketball and is able to shun out all distractions, we might see la reign supreme again in the nba. that is a big IF.
cheers and happy mylotting!!!

I think they will be a great team next year. They will be the western conference champions. They should get Grant Hill. I think Meta world peace is a weak link. They could put Grant Hill in the starting lineup for Meta. Hill is a great defender and shoots better than Meta. Better yet they should get someone good of the bench so that to help with their scoring. I won't mind if they trade World Peace for someone that's more young and athletic.

hi jvincent.
agree that nash is an upgrade and the lakers get better but i doubt if its enough to make the lakers western conference champions. the okc thunder, spurs, even the clippers seem to be possible contenders from the west. the timberwolves also intrigue me and i think they can do something good this season as well.
grant hill joining the lakers is good as well. not sure if he will start or come off the bench but no doubt about it, he is a welcome addition to any team.met world peace brings positives to the team but he has a downside as well. others would say his downside outweighs the positive so he isn't a good inclusion to any team. doubt if there's a team willing to trade a younger and more athletic player for meta world peace.
i love the guy though. reminds me so much of dennis rodman back in the day.
cheers and happy mylotting!!!

I love watching Steve Nash play so I'll be keeping an eye on the Lakers next year. With the Kings winning the Stanley Cup, it can provide impetus for the Lakers to add another trophy while making Los Angeles the city of champions.

hi tremendous machine.
big signing for the lakers definitely. they haven't had a legit point guard since magic johnson... seriously. nash is a really good upgrade from what the lakers have at point guard for a long time. plus he provides leadership in this team. he can co-captain the team with kobe and be a respected leader on the court and in the locker room. really love this signing for the lakers.
and to all the oklahoma city fans out there... GAME ON!!!
cheers and happy mylotting!!!
