Arizona Sky - A photograph of the early morning Arizona sky
United States
July 5, 2012 9:00pm CST
I have taken a lot of pictures of natural things - birds nests, animals, insects, animals...but I take pictures of the sky more than anything, it's always so beautiful! I thought I would share one of my favorite photos that I took a few years ago on my way home from work one morning. Please let me know what you think! I appreicate CONSTRUCTIVE critism!

Thank you jricky It's actually not sunset, it's sunrise. I used to work night shift, and this was on my way home from work. I got another picture that same morning with a lot more sky in it. I'll have to share that one tomorrow! But I'd like to get this one some attention first!

I think that it is a good photo, but not necessarily a great photo. I think that if you wanted to push the whole Arizona thing, then a few of the cactus that Arizona are famous for in the foreground would have improved it. Also, a bit more colour in the sky too. That is always hard to achieve though without going out every single morning with your camera!

Believe it or not there are actually no cactus around at the place I took this picture! Haha. Actually, a lot of the photos I have don't have cactus, but have palm trees instead.

I'm gonna try to post a couple other photographs tomorrow if I get the time. I'll be looking forward to your opinions on them too! (Sorry, no cactus in either ) Lol

Arizona Sky - Here is my photo of the Arizona sky at the Grand Canyon, March 2012.
I have quite a few Arizona sky photos. This one is probably the best sunset one I have. It is not great but I was still getting used to the manual settings on my new camera at that stage in the trip. Up until then I had been perfectly happy with it on the auto setting but that was not great in the low light. No cactus in mine either. I did not see those cactus unfortunately. Too far north.

That's a very pretty photo and I wish I could have seen it myself. I love photography and love to see good photo's, especially of the sky and clouds. What kind of trees are those in it? I can't quite tell. For some reason or another I can't upload photo's here and I wish I could. I have one I think you'd enjoy. It was taken quite a few years ago right before a very severe thunderstorm (plus a tornado a few miles away) which came on very quickly. We were having a backyard barbecue when all of a sudden I looked up, and half the sky above was a beautiful blue and the other half was almost black, very cool. This particular photo I took shows a big puffy cloud that has a ladies face in it with puffy cheeks that looks like it's blowing wind, crazy. I call it "Mother Nature In All Her Glory". I also adore and love trees and all their beauty too. Great picture you took, can't wait to see the others.

Mother Nature In Her Glory - Taken in July, 1999 of severe thunderstorm approaching.
Now I feel like a real idiot, lol!!! Of course it's a palm tree, hahaha! See, and you feel bad about having brain freeze before tests...look at what I just asked, haha!..duh. I can try to bring up the photo and see what happens. If it's here, you know it took, if it's not, nothing new for me. Oh my gosh, I think it took as I see it on the bottom of this page. Now remember, this is a photo of the photo which is much clearer in person. It was taken with a 35mm camera....:)

Hello LilyoftheThorns Another great photograph! I, too, enjoy photographs of the sky. Mrs. Turner enjoys them even more and has many photographs of the sky. She would love this one with all the clouds. She also enjoys making paintings of the skies that she sees. I like all the color in your photograph, as well as the palm trees. Thanks for sharing the photograph. Peace

Hawaii - a pic of the beach in hawaii. Too beautiful!!!!!
That is really pretty I like taking pics of nature too but I just have a basic camera. It takes a lot of skill to find the right light, scenary and get the picture just perfect. I would love to take a class on photography to learn all of those things

Thank you This was taken in Peoria, Az. Watch my discussions tomorrow and I'll try to upload another picture I took the same morning as this one. You can compare them and tell me which one you like better. The picture tomorrow will have a lot more sky in it. And a lot more clouds! It's another beautiful one, if I do say so myself

The only thing is centering... I know, that's how PHOTOs are taken, but in ART its considered better to not have things in the exact center. You did well not having the horizon at exactly the middle of the shot, but the palm tree... you might consider cropping the pix so its not quite so centered - better it were a little to the right (as you are looking at it) so to "balance" the other stuff on the left...

I totally agree with you about the centering thing. I will have to share a photo I took of my foster dog running. She's not centered AT ALL! Haha. I'll go make a discussion right now with the pic, I think you'll like it! I just don't want to crop this picture because I don't want to take any of the sky out of the picture. I'm worried that might take away from the beauty. Thanks!

The photo you uploaded is really good, i like it a lot. Photography is a great art and every one is interested in nature. No one hate nature, since it is having a lot of beautiful scenes. Most of us forget our worries and issues while watching the natural beauties. All the photographers take some photos of nature and have it in their collection. Nature is having a lot of things to capture. In my college days i am interested in photography and take a lot of natural photos in my vacation and college trips. I keep the collection as my treasure and check it frequently while i need peace. Really the natural photos have the ability to give more peace to us and we forget about our worries while enjoying the natural beauties. We like a lot of cute natural scenes like sun rise, sun set, cute birds, mountains, water falls, sky and so on, it is really hard to list out all the beautiful gift of our mother nature. Beauty is the next name of the nature. Nature have the ability to impress all kind of persons and give coolness to the eyes whoever enjoying its beauty. A cute natural scene don't have any substitute and give more pleasure and enjoyment to the person whoever watch it.

You are absolutely right! While there are some great pictures of some amazing buildings, I don't think anything manmade beats the beauty that nature supplies. I'm glad you like my photo, thank you!
