I have to admit, I'm pretty cheap when giving gifts. The most I spent is $25. But this time, I thinking of giving my sister a $100 dollar perfume. I know she deserves more than that (right now that's what I can afford), she's always been at my side, helping me in every way possible. I want to give her more, but I don't to spend more that what I can really afford. What is the most you have ever spent on a gift? Do you think it is good to give something that you could not really afford?

You have to give what you can afford and people understand that! The most expensive gift I bought was a round trip all inclusive surprise vacation for my hubby after he came back from a deployment. For me and him it wss $2400 but so worth it. When he got home I had his bags packed and did not tell him where we were going until we got to the airport. He LOVED it and it was worth saving up for it

Your gift is pretty expensive. You must love your husband so much and he must be very very happy with your gift. Oh how I wish I could give my husband such expensive gift too.

What is the most I ever spent on a gift? About $400 USD, I bought a laptop for my mom and I upgraded it before I gave it to her. As far as giving something you can't afford, I do not personally think that is a good idea. A gift is something you give for holidays, celebrations, or simply to show you care. The price of the gift should not be considered, only the thought of the gift. I personally do not ever consider what a gift costs, either given or received. Take that computer for example, I gave that to my mom because what I would give her is better than what she has, and if she were to buy a new computer, she would want me to go with her to advise her anyway. I would not want someone to try and buy me a computer as an "off the shelf" unit would not be beneficial to me. I build my own desktops, and I custom order laptops, so how could you possibly get me what I want? So the price is not a consideration for me, a gift is an expression of emotion, not an expression of wealth.

the most i have spent on a gift, i think is only about a few thousands of pesos. =) I recently am not able to give more than i could afford and i try not to as well because i have to watch my budget, of course if i am able to afford more, i am sure to get more for a friend, a loved one or a family member.

It's not practical when you give them something you can't realy afford. I guess price doesn't matter when it comes to giving gifts. Sometimes, they already have everything so it's difficult to choose the right gifts for them. Taking so much time in finding the perfect gift for them matters sometimes. They will appreciate it more when you give them what they really need.

I don't give expensive gifts. Most of the gifts that i give are my own crafts. I love to do crafting so I make my own gifts. Maybe the biggest amount it costs is just $10 for the materials and the rest is under my care.

Well they says that its the thought that counts. If you cant afford to buy that thing better find another one that is cheaper yet beautiful and valuable. So far, the most expensive gift that I gave was cellphone for my two brothers during christmas.

You give the gifts that you can afford and that are appropriate for the recipient. I do agree that the perfume is a risky gift. If it isn't a scent that she already wears, you can't be certain that it will work with her body chemistry and smell good. Perfume in the bottle smells different than it does on the wearer, and how it smells varies by wearer.

Right now I can afford to buy a gift around $100 only, no more because i don't have much money this time. The big gift i could give is around $300 4 months ago. I think i will buy a gift within my budget and hope a receiver can understand and respect it..because it is from my heart, not because its price. A unique gift that i received is my bracelet from my ex, it is not expensive, but i love it so much...because it is a gift...

The most I've spent on a gift was $40 and that was for Christmas, for a girl I thought I'd be very evenly matched with. It turned out that she was kind of on the crazy side and I'm glad it didn't work out but I do sometimes wonder "what if". Gifts are never determined by the amount you spend but feather the thoughtfulness that it may have lol. This is why the time I spent $40 is not even close to some of the other cheaper gifts I've given which are suprisingly more memorable and prized.
