Average Speed Checks

In England we have an average speed check set at 50mph on the M25 near Heathrow. I was just curious to know whether anybody here has actually been fined for going too quickly through one of these. I am convinced they don't work, and I have never heard of anyone being caught by these. I frequently see cars flying through these on the outside lane and figure they do it all the time.

They do work and my BIL has the fineand points on his licence to prove it! He got caught just south of Sheffield on the M1, he was admittedly doing 92mph as it was 2am. But the dark didn't stop the cameras from working; probaly because there were a lot of halogen lights to help the workers. I am also told that swapping lanes does not protect you either. I have also wondered whether the series of camera gantries between the M4 turn on the M25 and round to Chertsey work. If you go through them all at speed do you collect a number of tickets or just the one?

Thanks for your reply. I decided that it would be dangerous to go too fast through them as there is always a risk. I would say I usually do between 60 and 75 through them. I haven't tried the M1 at speed, only the M4 and M25. I happened to drive to Wales and had to come back to the M25 so I couldn't be bothered to go slowly through the speed check as my drive was about 5 hours long each way.
Thankfully I have never recieved a ticket from these type of speed checks.

Hello p1kef1sh
When I have gone through ticket cameras at night and the halogen lights flash, my first thought is that the paparazzi has found me again and this tends to cause me to go even faster!
