For other musical theatre lovers: which character would you play and why?

(take any voice restrictions aside) As for me (a a girl), I'd love to play Mrs. Lovett from Sweeney Todd (if I had the qualifications, hahaha :D). I love how there's a female character who's not a flat, generic lyrical heroine who always sings about love and who's always a typical sweet and perfect girl. Another choice would the The Narrator from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. She basically just tells the whole story, but in a way, she is really connected to Joseph, and I love this little playing with how she's in the story or not.

If I had my pick of characters, and I had qualifications vocal-wise to fit the character, I would love to play Mina or Lucy in Dracula the Musical. With my current qualifications, I'd want to play Fantine or Eponine in Les Miserables. My range might be SLIGHTLY stretched as Fantine, but it's one of my favorite roles.

Great choices! Love Les Miserables! I'm still looking for a version in my own language of Dracula to hear (I know they had it in a theatre some years ago, but I couldn't go).

I know... I tried to choose female roles, but male roles are usually so much more complex and interesting in musical theatre pieces... females are usually just there to be pretty and loving. If I could choose male characters, I'd definitely love to play Sweeney Todd for example!

I'd choose to Play Kim's role in Ms. Saigon. I wish I could sing as Lea Salonga does so that I could at least equal if not surpass her performance in that play. I love watching that play over and over again and I believe Lea Salonga has been the best Kim ever. Her performance has not been surpassed so far.

I still have to watch Miss Saigon, my country has a whole new production of this, which I'm really interested about :).

I would play Lili from the musical Lili. I saw that as a child and just fell in love with the story. She was a poor girl, a waif, it can be said, and, in a way had an innocent belief in magical things. She came upon a puppet show, and instantly began to 'get along' with the puppets. The puppeteer noticed this and had Lili perform with him. She fell deeply in love with this man. However, he had a hard time speaking words of love to her, and had to use his puppets. It sounds strange, but was really a magical and beautifully done film, and won Oscars. The other one I would choose to play would be 'Gigi'. I love that character. Gigi was a very good and sweet and kind girl who was making attempts to understand the world and how it worked. This is an excellent topic! I hope others respond to this :)
