Seriously everyone would sell an iPod found in the street?

I came from school this morning, it was raining like hell when I found an iPod in the middle of a puddle. The first thing I thought was "oh dear this must be broken by now"... but I picked it up and it worked perfectly fine. Then I checked if there was any contact number and I sent a SMS from my phone to let them know that I found an iPod and included my address...
The weird thing is when I told people they where like "Congratulations! Are you gonna keep it or are you gonna sell it?" I said "I am gonna give it back" and they are like "You are gonna what?? WTF?? Dont be silly this is a gift you can't waste it!!" seriously is that what people do when they find something???

So what happened after you texted the number and included your address? As far as honesty and integrity are concerned you should give it back.

Wait. You found and iPod and then you found a contact number and then they replied whether you're going to keep it or sell it? That's just odd.
I would probably return it too if I had known whose it were. I mean, why get something that is not yours in the first place? However, I'd think again if it were a Macbook though!
No, seriously. What happened next? Nobody claimed it?
Have a great Mylot experience ahead!

hah no no. I was checking the contact list on the iPod, then I found a contact that said "dad" and a tiny little heart. And I sent them a sms from my phone to let them know I found an iPod and it could be from her daughter.
Then I told to some friends I found an iPod and they said that.

Well, maybe because it is very rare that people give back things that they found on the streets or anywhere.
It's not once ,not twice or thrice that I found mobile phone and other things and try to trace the owner.
I don't feel like keeping a thing that I do not own.

Yeah, that is what most people do and it is great to know that you're different. Different in a good way.:)
When I lost something, I don't expect it to be returned to me.

I love your honesty and generosity. :D
Well, that's probably the most case that people will do. I cannot tell if i will also do the same as you did. But, i'm having a great need for money right now so i can break the rule of honesty.. However, i was enlightened by you. I will do the right thing. :D
Anyway, if someone gave me his/her iPOD i will sell that :D
i do like android more than iOS..

I like android aswell, but at least now I know that Apple products are waterproof which I didn't know. If someone gave me their iPod I would sell it aswell, I could use the money more than the actual thingy, which one of my pupils has one and he only plays games with it and downloads useless apps, so I dont know the use of it.

I think that those would be the first questions that I would ask too. In my mind finding something means that the other person was careless with why they lost buy then again if I lost something I would definitely be grateful
if someone returned it. If I found something laying on a random
street I wouldn't think about making the effort to
return it, but if it's in a public place then yes because there would be other people here to handle the process of finding who
it belonged too. I don't think it's an issue of greed more of how we as humans
value our time. We are constantly runnin around and checking
on the time throughout the day. Taking the time
to find who the phone belongs to can seem meaningless and not worth it because the person that found it gains nothing in the process if they return it. They may feel good about themselves for sticking to
vales. However, they lose something so it's almost like an
opportunity cost.

Well it could not be that they were careless, I lost my phone once in a taxi, I honestly don't know how it happened I sent a SMS and it must have slipped out of my bag when I got the wallet to pay. I never found it, sometimes you don't need to be careless, it could happen to anyone. I never saw my phone again, but well... it only took me 1 min to check who the phone belongs to.

Morality is what it is. It is sad to know that there are many people who don't think that keeping something found on the street is wrong. Don't they ever have the thought that if it was them who lost the iPod, will they be grateful that somebody found it and returned it to them?

Wow you are a really nice person. I do this too when possible. If there is a name or address or anything that would lead me to find the rightful owner I return it. But if there is no possible way to find them then I keep it. People these days are pretty dishonest and if you just said I found an ipod a lot of people would jump at the chance so you have to be careful. And it's a reason why I keep something if there is no way to identify the owner.
But again that's really nice of you to be so honest :)
