Bodie of Sacramento K9 Unit

Bodie - Bodie who was shot in the line of duty during a foot chase in the Land Park area. He was shot once in the jaw, and once in the right front leg. In the end his human partner Randy Van Dusen shot and killed the suspect.

I read a story about a K9 dog who was shot in the line of duty and almost died because of it. I have a soft heart when it comes to dogs and for me they are the most loyal pet you could ever have. When I read about Bodie who was shot in the line of duty during a foot chase in the Land Park area it almost break my heart. He was shot once in the jaw, and once in the right front leg. In the end his human partner Randy Van Dusen shot and killed the suspect. He also became the strength of his human partner when Randy signed up for a 100 mile race. They both finish the last lap together while Bodie is still limping from the shot he had. This is only a true testament that animals especially dogs are mans best friend.

Freymind, I could not agree with you more. Dogs are simply, Man's/Women's Best Friends and always will be. They put so much on the line and they will be with you through all times in life - the good and the bad. When it comes to a Police Force Dog, it hits us just as much as it would if a Police Officer was injured. My friend is a Police Officer, and one of the hardest things one of his co-workers had to go through, was putting down his partner(dog). It is like losing your best friend. He was not injured while on duty, he had got cancer. They work with these animals 12 hours a day. They are so close and have such a special bond. It breaks my heart when any dog or animal is injured, especially when it is at someone else's hand.

So sorry for that officer's lost. Its hard when you need to put done your buddy because he's sick its sad but you need to do it to lessen his suffering. And yes dogs will put their lives on the line for their partner be it for the good or the bad.

My dogs have always been a very important part of my life and I know that my life wouldn't be as rich as it is if it wasn't for the fact that I've had the opportunity in my life to love dogs. There are times where we might think that there is really not a relationship between man and beast, but I simply don't really think that this is the case at all. Instead, I think that dogs are a person's best friend and there will be one special human that they are especially attached to.

Hello :D. I agree for the most part with you. It is a shame when a dog is hurt or wounded by someone, in fact in movies the only deaths I care about are those from animals (when people die I don't care as much :p). But it's also need to take into account that while dogs are loyal, those in the K-9 unit and the military are used as weapons and tools of intimidation, so its no wonder someone, probably everyone, would try to hurt or kill them to stop their attacks. I guess it could be called an occupational hazard.

Oh, how sad what happened to Bodie. Anyway he should be awarded for his courage, eve though he was shot he never gave up. It was very interesting story because of this I am even more desperate to my very own dog. *aw*
