Recently, I discover a phenomenon, which happening around my friends. I went to a gathering with my previous classmate and friends, I found out things changed, everyone is changing. First is the apperance, everyone seems to using hi-tech gadgets, for instance iphone, tablets and some special devices. Second is conversation. Everyone tends to talk about their life, such as how much money they used to buy this and that, how much money and how frequent going to vacation, how they enjoying their life by having meals or drinks in those high end places.... etc. This make me thinking, why everybody seems to be so materialistic? Or am I the odd one who do not behave like them? Are all of these what we define as 'good life'?

Actually what you described is not really a phenomenon. In fact, I would have expected that in reunions of old friends or classmates. iPhone and all those electronic gadgets are something that is common now. When we meet friends that we have not met for quite sometime, it is not easy to have common talking topics and updating each other about their lives is a good start and is not the reunion for? What did you talk to them in that reunion?
