My little sister graduated from University today!!
I am so proud of her. I never went to university myself, I had great GCSE’s and A-Levels and you didn’t need a degree to get a job when I left school.. but she is 3 years younger than me and by the time she was leaving it was all about the degree.
And the wee spud did it!
She looked gorgeous in her cap and gown!
I suppose anyone from the UK here has people graduating themselves?
What do you think of this? And of University in general?

Congrats to your little sister, I hope that within a few years I can get my degree.
I don't know how difficult it is to earn a degree in your country, but with the math I have to take, ugh, I am not looking forward to taking those classes...

a degree generally varies on the course you are taking.. but you need good GCSE's and A-Levels to even get a place in university in the first place, and if you dont have your maths, english and science GCSE and atleast 3 a-levels, you have to resit to get into uni lol.
I had all my grades to get to uni but just wanted to get straight into work. it was all about the experience you had and your personality so I never needed a degree.. then 4 years later, everywhere is crying out for degrees because of the economy, which makes me lucky i have a job for the kast 5 years, but also unlucky i didn't do a degree lol!

Like I said, I don't know how it works in your country, because I was like you, experience is better than a degree, so i also go to college. I am fortunate that I qualify for a Pell Grant and can take most of my classes online. Sure it isn't a "big" university and I am just getting a measly little undergraduate degree, but it is better than what I had and I hope it gets me in somewhere, though I prefer to get in somewhere right now..

I feel exactly the same carm! rather than getting a big fancy degree I think I'm going to go to night classes and get an NVQ, it's probably a little the same of what your doing. Anything that opens doors eh!

Congrats to her for graduating and working hard to get there. It must be very satisfying.
As for me I never went to Uni. I just didn't know what I wanted to do for one but I also didn't like having to pay so much money for a piece of paper that at times can mean nothing. Although these days somepeople won't even give you the time of day if you don't have something even if you have years of experience which is pretty unfairas there are sometimes where a self taught person can do a better job :(

Yeah I would have done a few short courses even with things I wanted to do. I still don't know what I really want to do with myself except of course to win the lottery. Problem solved

Hi friend, good to hear that your sister finished her graduation, convey my regards and congrats to her. As you mentioned there is no necessary of degree for getting job in your school period, so you are missing it. Anyway you passed your schooling with a good grade, congrats for it
