Bring back death penalty in Canada?

I am getting real tired of watching the news. There has already been over 131 shootings in toronto this year. That's not even including stabbings and other murders. The crime rate has jumped 30% since last year. I don't even feel safe going to my corner store alone anymore. Would bringing back the death penalty in canada be a good idea? Would that put any fear into people that are commiting these crimes? Something has got to give!

A deterrent punishment may caution people not to resort to crime. But the people indulging in crimes are not doing for livelihood --but out of factors such as property, women, gambling etc. and even introduction of such punishments may not fully eradicate crimes but reduce to some extent.
